The Oconomowoc Raccoons have been selected as the Week 5 WSN Football Team of the Week following a statewide vote on WSN. The team scored a big win over Muskego to end the Warriors' 41-game winning streak. The Raccoons were chosen from a strong group of nominees in Week 5. A total of 7,720 votes were cast, as Oconomowoc's 3,405 votes edged Hartford's 2,164 votes.

We knew there was a chance that Muskego's long winning streak could come to an end this year, but I don't think anyone outside Oconomowoc thought it would be in Week 5 against the Raccoons. Oconomowoc was in control most of the way, and a 70-yard touchdown pass from Jack Hellman to Carter Tower with just 41 seconds left sealed a 21-14 victory that snapped Muskego's 41-game winning streak. It was especially surprising since Oconomowoc had lost its last two games to Waukesha West and Kettle Moraine, teams that hadn't exactly been lighting things up this season. Hellman was a difference-maker, throwing for 193 yards and a score while adding 127 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

Remember folks, the only way your favorite team can be named WSN Team of the Week is to vote and share the word. Look for the Week 6 nominees to be posted Monday afternoon.
