WisSports.net Week 6 Player of the Week Nominees

Aidan Driscoll, Waunakee

Waunakee and DeForest squared off in Week 6 in their annual rivalry contest, with both ranked in the top three of the WSN Division 2 Coaches Poll. Waunakee scored first in the second quarter on a 36-yard Aidan Driscoll field goal, though DeForest led 14-6 at halftime. It remained close, and the game was tied at 20 late into the fourth quarter. With 2:37 remaining, Driscoll connected on his third field goal of the game, this one from 30-yards out, to give the Warriors a 23-20 lead that would hold up in the end. Driscoll made three field goals in the contest plus both of his extra point attempts and is one of the state's top kickers.

Chase Matthias, Two Rivers

Two Rivers ran away from Valders for a 46-6 victory on Friday night to give the Purple Raiders their first Eastern Wisconsin Conference victory. Sophomore running back Chase Mathias eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark on the season with a huge performance, carrying the ball 33 times for 407 yards with six touchdowns. He scored once in the first quarter, once in the second, twice in the third, and twice in the fourth quarter. Mathias also had a team-high 15 tackles on defense with two sacks and two forced fumbles.

Robby Michael, Kohler/Sheboygan Lutheran/Christian

Kohler/Sheboygan Lutheran/Christian had to move its game this week to Lakeland University due to the festivities associated with the Ryder Cup at Whistling Straights. The tri-op team led Kiel 28-12 at halftime but the Raiders stormed back to tie the game heading into the fourth. However, Robby Michael accounted for two scores, one passing and one rushing, help Kohler/Sheboygan Lutheran/Christian to a 42-28 victory. Michael completed 14-of-23 passes in the game for 320 yards with five touchdowns, adding 17 carries for a team-high 136 yards and one rushing score. He also had seven tackles and an interception on defense.

Dayo Oye, Saint Croix Falls

Saint Croix Falls handed Bloomer its first conference loss of the season in Week 6, running away for a 47-34 victory. Running was the operative word for the Saints, who amassed 430 yards and six touchdowns on the ground. Much of the damage was done by senior running back Dayo Oye, who carried the ball 26 times for 300 yards with four touchdowns, as all four of his scores came from at least 42 yards away.

Corey Smith, Catholic Memorial

Wauwatosa West entered Friday's Kwik Trip Game of the Week showdown with Catholic Memorial with a vaunted running game that averaged more than 500 yards and 67 points. However, it was the Crusaders rushing attack that grabbed the headlines in this game. Much of the damage was done by sophomore sensation Corey Smith, who opened the scoring with a five-yard touchdown run before a 48-yard score later in the first quarter. In the second quarter, he juked a waiting defender in the hole and raced untouched for a 60-yard touchdown. He'd add a 63-yard scoring scamper in the third as Catholic Memorial scored an impressive 35-8 win. Smith finished with 201 yards and four touchdowns on just 13 carries.
