RallyAroundUs Athlete of the Week: September 20-26

Below are the RallyAroundUs Athlete of the Week Nominees for the week of September 20 through 26. Voting is open until Thursday at 4pm, so be sure to vote for who you feel is most deserving and spread the word. Users may vote once per day.

RallyAroundUs Athlete of the Week Nominees: September 20-26

Emmett Lawton, Notre Dame boys soccer: Notre Dame came into the week ranked second in Division 3 in the WSCA poll. The Tritons matched up with Division 1, ninth-ranked De Pere. Lawton netted the only goal of the game as Notre Dame won 1-0. The junior forward then had two goals and two assists in a 7-0 win over Fox River Classic foe Ashwaubenon.

Wyatt Miland, Eleva-Strum football: Miland was unstoppable running the ball last Friday as Eleva-Strum beat Independence/Gilmanton 39-18. The senior running back carried the ball 25 times for an incredible 353 yards and four touchdowns; that output being good for third most in the state in week 6. Miland averaged over 14 yards per carry.

Ella Safar, Burlington girls volleyball: The Burlington girls volleyball came away from the weekend with an impressive first place finish at the loaded LaPorte Sprawl in West Bend East. Safar was a huge assist as she had 85 assists on Saturday. The sophomore setter set her team up for success throughout the weekend with wins over the top three teams in Division 1; third ranked DSHA, second ranked Appleton North, and top ranked Oconomowoc. Earlier in the week, Safar had 22 assists and seven aces in a 3-0 sweep of Southern Lakes foe Delavan-Darien.

Anna Vanden Acker, Saint Mary Catholic girls tennis: Vanden Acker continued her dominance in her prep career by winning her fourth consecutive conference title at the Wisconsin Combined Tennis Conference Championships last weekend. She beat Saint Mary's Spring's Sophie Vande Slunt 6-3, 6-3 in the title match to secure her first place finish. Vanden Acker's dominance helped the Zephyrs win its sixth consecutive team conference title.

Dorci Walker, Columbus Catholic girls volleyball: Walker had a record setting weekend as Columbus Catholic finished the week 5-1 including going 3-1 at the Medford Tournament. During the week she had 15 kills, 14 digs, and six aces in a 3-0 sweep of Loyal. Walker followed that up with 22 kills, eight digs and three aces in a 3-0 sweep of Owen-Withee. She finished the week compiling 68 kills and 26 digs over four matches at Medford. During the tournament, Walker broke the school record for kills in a prep career of 1,135 previously held by Kendra Baierl.
