Week 6 WisSports.net Team of the Week Nominees

Augusta Beavers

One of the best seasons in school history continues as the Augusta Beavers rallied two different times in the fourth quarter to defeat Pepin/Alma 22-20 to remain undefeated. Pepin/Alma led 8-0 at the halftime break, but Augusta tied things up early in the third quarter. Pepin/Alma would go ahead 14-8 later in the period, but the conversion failed, which would be a big factor later on. Augusta took a 16-14 lead early in the fourth on a Marcus Livingston 38-yard touchdown run, before Pepin/Alma answered to go up 20-16 in the closing minutes. With less than a minute to go, Brennan King found Tyler Brixen for a nine-yard touchdown as the Beavers held on for a 22-20 victory.

Brodhead/Juda Cardinals

Brodhead/Juda is new to the Southwest Wisconsin Conference this year, but the Cardinals have quickly taken a firm grasp on the league, defeating league power River Valley 39-7 on Friday. With size up front and speed at the skill positions, Brodhead/Juda is a tough matchup for anyone. In the victory over the Blackhawks, the Cardinals rolled up 374 yards on the ground, led by 222 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries from Gage Boegli.

Fort Atkinson Blackhawks

Fort Atkinson last made the playoffs in 2016 and endured a 19-game losing streak over the course of several seasons before scoring a couple victories in the alternate 2021 spring schedule. Now, the Blackhawks are alone in first place in the Badger-Small after knocking off previously unbeaten Baraboo 26-7 on Friday night. The defense limited Baraboo's ground attack to just 115 yards on 34 carries and picked off three passes to control things on that side of the ball, while the Fort Atkinson ground game saw two players go over the century mark: Cade Cosson and Alec Courtier.

Hurley Northstars

It was a non-conference replacement game, but still a big-time statement by Hurley to defeat Edgar 22-20 in overtime on Friday. The game was scoreless at halftime before Hurley got on the board in the third quarter, with Edgar rallying in the fourth as the teams were tied at 14 at the end of regulation. Both scored in the overtime period, but Hurley converted a two-point play while Edgar failed on its conversion attempt to provide the final margin. Max Blamey racked up 175 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries, while Tony Cummings added 93 rushing yards for the Northstars.

Milwaukee King Generals

Milwaukee King and Milwaukee Riverside have been the two best and most consistent programs in the Milwaukee City Conference for a number of years, and their matchup usually decides who takes home league and city bragging rights. That will stay with King this season as the Generals downed the Tigers 17-6 on Friday. Neither team got much going offensively, as there were fewer than 300 total yards in the game. King made a few more plays when it counted after Riverside went up 6-0 in the first quarter. A three-yard touchdown run by quarterback Nate White with 1:38 remaining in the game provided the insurance the Generals needed.
