We asked, you voted, and Franklin at Oak Creek has been selected as the Kwik Trip Game of the Week for Week 6 of the high school football season. A total of 3,774 votes were cast, as this one received 1,851 of those votes.

The Kwik Trip Game of the Week allows you, the fans, to pick what you feel is the biggest high school football game in the state each week. Not only will that game get featured on WisSports.net, but WSN Content Manager Norbert Durst will make it his destination that week, with updates, photos, videos, and stories from the big game.

And of course, no trip to a big game in Wisconsin would be complete without a stop or two at Kwik Trip! Kwik Trip is a family-owned company with more than 700 stores around the Midwest, and has the best selection of snacks, drinks, and of course gas to fuel your pre- or post-game needs. So what will it be for you...glazers, chocolate milk, or maybe the Spicy Chicken Sandwich!

This rivalry game is one of the best in southeast Wisconsin, and is for first place in the Southeast Conference. The teams play for a trophy that is a helmet with the Franklin colors and logo on one side and the Oak Creek colors and logo on the other side.

Oak Creek has paid its dues with a young team the last couple seasons, and they've parlayed that experience into a strong start to 2021. The Knights haven't won in this rivalry since 2014 when they took down Franklin 20-12.

Franklin has ruled the league for a while, and the Sabers have designs on continuing their stranglehold on the Southeast Conference, with plenty of goals still ahead.

But first, the team has to take care of an old rival.

"We will be challenged but we just have to play for each other and focus on improving ourselves to the best of our ability," said Sabers head coach Louis Brown. "Great teams can make you doubt yourself if you're not prepared. We must play without a lot of thinking and move on if we make a mistake. Full speed all four quarters, enjoy the challenge and play for your brothers next to you."

Oak Creek's resurgence has been several years in the making.

"We have been very young the last few years and have learned from that, so the beginning of the year has been a chance to put some things together," Knights coach Joel Parr explained. "The first part of the season has been about proving ourselves to many people who doubted what we have been building the past few years. We still have a long way to go."

The chance to take on their biggest rival with so much on the line is a special one, in part because of how good both teams are performing.

"When the schedule comes out this is the first thing anyone in our communities check is to see when we play Franklin," Parr added. "This year Franklin is extremely good. I have been around this league since 1997 and I think this is the best Franklin team I have seen over those years. They do not have many weaknesses, but we are pretty good too. We are excited to battle, we are not afraid of them.

"This will be a lot of fun, the stadium is already sold out on Wednesday. I am getting calls for tickets from everywhere. When I took the job at Oak Creek I understood the magnitude of the position and this is one of the great things about the job, now it's time to perform."
