Looking Back

On Saturday, Three Lakes fell from the ranks of the unbeatens, as the Bluejays went down to Wabeno/Laona in a key MONLPC-West contest. Quarterback Connor Taylor had a big day and the win allowed the Rebels of Wabeno/Laona to not only take over sole possession of first place in the conference but also move into the 8-Player Coaches Poll on WSN. Taylor threw for 151 yards and a touchdown and ran for 192 and three scores in the victory.

Also on Saturday, Saint Mary Catholic/Valley Christian made the long drive to North Crawford, downing the Trojans 76-28 as Danny Griffith threw for 334 yards with six touchdowns, Luke Steffen carried the ball 21 times for 157 yards, and Ethan Campbell caught eight passes for 210 yards and four scores.

In action from Friday night, Quade Larson ran for 256 yards and three touchdowns and recorded 11 tackles with a forced fumble as Prairie Farm took down Clayton 36-19 with a big fourth quarter. Tyler Rassbach added 198 total yards of offense with two interceptions on defense, while Elec Klefstad also picked off two passes.

Northwood/Solon Springs' Syver Gulbrandsen threw three touchdowns, ran for another, and a team-high 15 tackles in a 58-20 victory over Washburn.

Looking Ahead

One of the bigger games of the season so far kicks off on Friday as Athens will welcome in Newman Catholic. Athens is new to 8-player this season and not eligible for the playoffs, but the Bluejays are unbeaten and ranked sixth in the WSN Coaches Poll. Newman Catholic is once again one of the top teams in 8-player football and looking to show the new kids on the block just what it takes to be successful.

Unbeaten McDonell Central will make the trip to Phillips, as the Macks are trying to keep pace with Gilman atop the CWC-West, while the Loggers of Phillips are trying to ruin the party and perhaps stay in the league race.

Luck and Shell Lake are tied for second in the Lakeland-West behind Prairie Farm, and the Cardinals and Lakers will meet up in Luck.

Saturday, Three Lakes will look to rebound from its first loss with a trip to Suring.

Star of the Week: Chris Brockman, Bruce

Bruce running back Chris Brockman scored eight rushing touchdowns and caught two scores as the Red Raiders outlasted Alma Center Lincoln 76-52. Brockman finished with 29 carries for 278 yards and caught six passes for 119 yards in the win.
