RallyAroundUs Athlete of the Week Nominees: October 4-10

Claire Becker, Melrose-Mindoro girls cross country: Becker and the Melrose-Mindoro cross country team took part in the Holte Invitational in Arcadia this past weekend. The sophomore runner finished ahead of the pack, taking home the individual title. Becker finished the race with a time of 20:58, nearly 20 seconds ahead of the second place finisher.

Noah Malcook, Oregon boys soccer: The Oregon boys soccer team is playing extremely well this season, having gone 15-0-2 so far. Malcook leads the Panthers in scoring and improved upon that this past week in a 10-0 win over Reedsburg. The junior forward netted four goals in the win as Oregon. Malcook's performance on the pitch helped the Panthers clinch at least a share of the Badger-West title.

Riley Pechinski, Stevens Point girls golf: Pechinski punched her ticket to the state golf meet this past weekend, medaling at the Division 1 Rice Lake sectional. The sophomore shot a 72, one over par, at the Turtleback Golf Course. Pechinski finished ten strokes ahead of the second place finisher.

Carter Pearson, Pewaukee football: Pearson and the Pewaukee football team stymied a potent Wauwatosa West offense and took home a 21-16 win this past Friday. The running back/defensive back was big on both sides of the ball. Defensively he had three tackles and a sack. Offensively. Pearson rushed eight times for 102 yards and scored all three touchdowns for the Pirates. He had touchdown rushes of 5, 23 and 61 yards.

Hudson Schaetz, Green Bay Preble boys soccer: Schaetz has been a key reason why the Green Bay Preble boys soccer team is 12-0-4 on the year and ranked fourth in the Division 1 WSCA poll. Last week the Hornets went 3-0 and Schaetz scored in all three matches. In a 5-1 win over Sturgeon Bay, he netted a lone goal. Schaetz followed it up with two goals in a 9-0 win over Ashwaubenon and finished the week with another goal in a 6-0 win over Sheboygan North.
