WisSports.net Week 9 Player of the Week Nominees

Braiden Behnke, Clintonville

Clintonville needed a win to clinch a playoff spot, and for a while it wasn't looking good fo the Truckers. Trailing 14-0 heading into the fourth quarter, senior quarterback Braiden Behnke accounted for three touchdowns to lead the team to an 18-14 win. He threw a pair of scores and ran for one in the deciding final quarter, finishing the game with 271 yards and those two touchdowns through the air with an additional 32 yards and one score on the ground, as he accounted for all but five yards of offense for the Truckers.

Sam Klestinski, Edgewood

Edgewood and Monroe were locked in a battle for the Rock Valley Conference title, with the Cheesemakers of Monroe on top 28-13 in the fourth quarter. Edgewood rallied to tie it on a pair of Joe Hartlieb touchdown passes, and with just over a minute to go, had a chance to go ahead on a 43-yard field goal try by Sam Klestinski. Despite a high snap that threw off the timing and caused him to double-clutch his approach, he had enough leg to nail it through for the go-ahead score that turned out to be the game-winning points in a 31-28 Edgewood victory.

Isaac VandenBush, Luxemburg-Casco

Luxemburg-Casco secured an outright North Eastern Conference championship thanks to a 42-21 victory over second-place Denmark on Friday. Leading 21-14 at halftime, Luxemburg-Casco got an Isaac VandenBush touchdown run to break things open a bit, as he added another score in the fourth to put it away. VandenBush finished with 34 hard-fought carries for 247 yards and three touchdowns to help keep the Spartans perfect on the season.

Mason Voss, Colby

Colby wrapped up a Marawood Conference title in its first full year moving into the league thanks to a dominating 54-7 victory over Auburndale. The Hornets rolled up 347 rushing yards in the game, led by Mason Voss, who carried it 20 times for 193 yards with three touchdowns.

Craig Ward, Marshall

Marshall jumped out to a 27-0 lead on Markesan and held on for a 33-22 win that secured an outright Eastern Suburban Conference championship. Craig Ward threw three, first-half touchdowns to help the Cardinals build that lead, completing 11-of-12 passes in the game for 206 yards with four touchdowns. He added 40 rushing yards on the ground and posted an interception on defense.
