Below are the RallyAroundUs Athlete of the Week Nominees for the week of October 18 through 24. Voting is open until Thursday at 4pm, so be sure to vote for who you feel is most deserving and spread the word. Users may vote once per day.

RallyAroundUs Athlete of the Week Nominees: October 18-24

Owen Backus, Elkhorn boys soccer: Backus was all over the pitch this past week, as he helped propel the Elkhorn boys soccer team to a regional title. In a huge 17-0 shutout of Wilmot in the regional semi-finals, he netted one goal and added another three assists. The Elks then squared off with Monona Grove in the regional finals where the sophomore forward netted a hat trick in the 6-0 win.

Morgan Brickl, River Valley girls volleyball: The River Valley girls volleyball team is a six seed in their grouping, but took home three wins last week to win a regional title. Brickl was huge from her outside hitter position. In a 3-0 sweep of Sparta, she had nine kills, eight digs, a block and an assist. The junior hitter then had 14 kills, 19 digs, three aces, one block and two assists in a 3-2 thriller over Platteville. Brickl finished the week off with 10 kills, 13 digs, a block and an assist in a 3-0 sweep of Prairie du Chien to capture the regional title.

Shannon Kutcher, Catholic Memorial girls tennis: Catholic Memorial girls tennis took home a second state title in three years this past weekend, knocking off Xavier and Regis in the Division 2 tournament. Kutcher won both of her singles matches to help the Crusaders capture gold. In the semifinals, the junior beat Xavier's Nana Berko 6-1, 6-1. Kutcher then downed Regis' Sofie Merrick 6-3, 6-4 in the finals matchup.

Greg Oberbroeckling, Roncalli/Two Rivers boys soccer: Oberbroeckling posted a pair of shutouts from the goalkeeper position as Roncalli/Two Rivers advanced to sectional play this week. In a 2-0 shutout of Waupun in the regional semifinals, he had six saves en route to not allowing a goal. Oberbroeckling then had five more saves in a 2-0 win over Freedom, helping Roncalli/Two Rivers to a regional title.

Gianna Vollrath, Fall Creek girls volleyball: Vollrath and the Fall Creek girls volleyball came into the WIAA State Tournament as the one seed in their regional and recorded two sweeps en route to a regional title. In the 3-0 semifinal victory over Luther, the senior hitter had 15 kills, four digs, two blocks and two assists. Vollrath, who has the kill record at Fall Creek, then had 21 kills, 19 digs, four blocks, two assists and an ace in the 3-0 sweep of Westby in the regional finals.
