The Jefferson Eagles have been selected as the Level 1 WSN Football Team of the Week following a statewide vote on WSN. The team went on the road to score a nail-biting win to open the postseason. The Eagles were chosen from a strong group of nominees in Level 1. A total of 5,242 votes were cast, as Jefferson's 1,881 votes edged Boyceville's 1,708 votes.

Jefferson led Martin Luther the entire game, but the Eagles had to hold on late for a 21-20 victory, turning away a potential go-ahead two-point conversion with 2:38 remaining to secure the win. Jefferson went up 21-7 on the first play of the fourth quarter when Patrick Rogers scored from 11 yards out, but Martin Luther would score two touchdowns in the final eight minutes to threaten. Jefferson's ground game led the way with 235 yards and three touchdowns on 51 carries, but quarterback Evan Neitzel had three key completed passes for 65 yards as well.

Remember folks, the only way your favorite team can be named WSN Team of the Week is to vote and share the word. Look for the Level 2 nominees to be posted Monday afternoon.
