Luna Larson of Baraboo has been selected as the Level 2 Football Player of the Week following a statewide vote on WisSports.net. His big day helped the Thunderbirds go on the road to score a win in a second level playoff game. He was chosen from a strong group of nominees in Level 2. A total of 9,070 votes were cast, as Larson's 3,412 were enough to barely edge out second place Davontre Smith of Menasha, who tallied 3,401 votes.

Luna Larson of Baraboo missed some time in the middle part of the season due to injury, but his return has been a big boost for the Thunderbirds. The team is making its deepest playoff run in school history thanks to a 35-28 victory over top-seeded Mosinee on Friday. The Thunderbirds led 21-6 at halftime but saw Mosinee tie it up at 28 early in the fourth quarter. With just over a minute remaining, Larson scored from a yard out to provide the game-winning points. He finished with 32 carries for 193 yards and a touchdown, adding 117 yards and two scores through the air on 12-of-17 passing.

Remember folks, the only way your favorite player can be named WisSports.net Player of the Week is to vote and share the word. Look for the Level 3 nominees to be posted Monday afternoon.
