Bug Tussel Wireless Triple Threat Athlete of the Week: Lily Hansford, Appleton East

The Bug Tussel Wireless Triple Threat Athlete of the Week is an honor given on WisSports.net to the top senior boys and girls three-sport athletes in the state. Players are recognized each week on WSN, with the a boys and girls winner of the Pat Richter Award at the end of the season to the best three-sport athlete of the year.

The goal and mission of Bug Tussel Wireless is to level the playing field for rural residents despite where they may live. Whether you work from home, your office is downtown or you are manning the family farm, they believe residents should be connected without having to compromise speed, price, quality, service or the environment.

Tennis Honors: Four-year letter winner... second-team all-FRCC as a freshman at Ashwaubenon... honorable mention all-FVA as a senior... coached by Anthony Palma at Appleton East... 

Basketball Honors: Four-year varsity starter... FRCC honorable mention as a freshman at Ashwaubenon... named second-team all-FVA as a sophomore and junior... coached by Joe LaChapell... the 6-2 wing averaged 13.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game as a junior for the 19-4 Patriots which advanced to a Division 1 regional final... shot 72-for-166 (43.4%) from 3-point land as a junior... currently has 854 career points... signed with NCAA Division I Oregon State University... part of a strong Appleton East squad that is ranked No. 1 in the WSN Preseason Top 10 in Division 1... 

Softball Honors: Enters her senior year as a two-year letter winner... coached by Jerry Delong... 

Favorite Sport (and why): "Basketball because it is a creative sport and I love the competition." 

Best Part of High School Sports (and why): "Competing multiple times a week with my teammates." 

Best Advice from a Coach: "Don't be afraid to be great"

Most Memorable Moment in High School Sports: "First game with Appleton East in 10th grade at Freedom. Gym was packed, crowd was electric and the game was super competitive in a 77-71 win." 

Best Part of Playing Three Sports: "My teammates, the competition, and staying in shape." 

Toughest Part of Playing Three Sports: "The daily grind, no days off but that is also what makes it fun."

Favorite Opponent (and why): "The FVA Conference.  Best conference in the state.  Every game is tough and brings new challenges."

Toughest Individual You’ve Competed Against (and why): "Emily La Chapell in practice. We compete and get after each other every day in practice to make each other better." 

Most Admired High School Teammate (and why): "Again Emily. I have known her since 3rd grade, played AAU with her since 4th, and now high school. Great person better athlete." 

College Plans: "Signed my NLI to Oregon State University for basketball and academics." 

Activities Outside of Sports: "Cooking, swimming, and skiing."
