Brookfield East senior Abby Wanezek has been selected as the RallyAroundUs Athlete of the Week for the week of November 8-14 after a statewide vote on WisSports.net.
Wanezek was a big reason why Brookfield East won the Division 1 team state meet this past weekend. Individually she won the 50 yard freestyle swim in 22.54 which broke her own Division 1 state meet record. The senior swimming also won the 100 yard freestyle in 49.35. Wanezek teamed with Audrey Olen, Reese Tiltmann and Lucy Thomas to set a state meet record in the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:31.13. She then teamed with Olen, Tilmann and her sister Maggie to win the 400 yard freestyle relay in 3:19.32, which broke the relay's own record from 2020.
The Athlete of the Week is sponsored by RallyAroundUs. It highlights the players who have "made a splash" in the world of high school sports each week. If you have a nominee for Athlete of the Week please send it to Colton Wilson.
