RallyAroundUs Athlete of the Week: December 6-12

Below are the RallyAroundUs Athlete of the Week Nominees for the week of  December 6 through 12. Voting is open until Thursday at 4 pm, so be sure to vote for who you feel is most deserving and spread the word. Users may vote once per day.

RallyAroundUs Athlete of the Week Nominees: December 6-12

Shane Corrigan, De Pere wrestling: Corrigan took home a first place finish in the 126 weight class at the Bay Port Battle on the Bay this past Saturday. The senior took home a second place finish last year at the WIAA State Tournament in Division 1, 120 weight class as a junior. Saturday Corrigan squared off with the Division 2, 106 weight class winner Easton Worachek of Luxemburg-Casco. He won the first place bout by a decision of 8-2.

Carly Drew, Westfield girls basketball: Drew was spectacular this past week, leading Westfield to a pair of wins and a 6-0 start to the season. In a 61-52 win over Amherst, the 5'8" sophomore tallied 28 points, six steals and five rebounds. Drew followed that up with a triple double in a 76-11 victory over Mauston. She finished the game with 16 points, 15 steals and 11 assists.

Nakiyah Hurst, Milwaukee Academy of Science girls basketball: Hurst was clutch this week, helping secure a pair of wins for MAOS. First in a big-time matchup with Beaver Dam, the North Dakota commit had 27 points, 17 rebounds, six blocks, five assists and three steals in the 85-82 win. With less than two seconds remaining, Hurst pulled up from the top of the key and nailed the game winning three pointer as time expired. She finished the week with 16 points, seven rebounds, four assists, three steals and three blocks in the 74-12 win over Milwaukee Reagan.

Koy Nelson, South Shore boys basketball: Nelson has been a torrid start to his senior year thus far. The 5'8" senior put together a pair of 30 point games this past week as he's averaging 38.3 per game early on. In an 89-51 win over Lac Courte Oreilles, Nelson scored 36 points, nine rebounds, five assists and five steals. He then tallied 38 points, 14 rebounds, seven steals and three assists in a 90-56 win over Mercer.

Luke Pautz, Roncalli boys basketball: Pautz filled the stat sheet for Roncalli in a pair of wins this past week. In an 82-38 win over New Holstein, the 6'4" senior scored 36 points and added seven rebounds and four steals. Pautz proceeded to score 47 points while adding 17 rebounds, three assists and two steals in a 79-21 win over Two Rivers. His 47 points broke the single game school record which was previously held by Chombi Lambert.
