RallyAroundUs Athlete of the Week: December 13-19

Below are the RallyAroundUs Athlete of the Week Nominees for the week of  December 13 through 19. Voting is open until Thursday at 4 pm, so be sure to vote for who you feel is most deserving and spread the word. Users may vote once per day.

RallyAroundUs Athlete of the Week Nominees: December 13-19

Abbie Aalsma, Waupun girls basketball: Waupun is the top ranked team in Division 3 in the WSN Coaches Poll, and they proved why again this past week, winning games over Kettle Moraine Lutheran and Wrightstown. Aalsma filled the stat sheet in those two games, beginning with 26 points, five rebounds, five steals and four assists in the 71-44 win over Kettle Moraine Lutheran. The Illinois State commit then had 20 points, six rebounds and three steals as the Warriors trounced the fourth ranked team in Division 3, Wrightstown, 71-38.

Ella Hemker, Sparta gymnastics: Hemker was exceptional as the Sparta gymnastics team competed at the Tomah Invitational this past Saturday. The junior gymnast was the all-around winner on the weekend, finishing with a score of 36.75. Hemker won the vault with a score of 9.4, uneven bars with a score of 8.95 and balance beam with a score of 9.25. Rounding out her day, Hemker finished second on the floor exercise with a score of 9.15.

Carson Knutson, Grantsburg boys basketball: Grantsburg has started the season off 4-0 and has been led by their 5'11" senior guard Knutson. Despited only playing one game last week, Knutson was phenomenal in a 70-66 win over Turtle Lake. He poured in 36 points while adding nine rebounds, six steals and four assists. On the season Knutson is averaging over 24 points, four rebounds and four assists per game.

Brooke Lechleitner, Lake Holcombe girls basketball: Lechleitner passed a career milestone this past week and helped Lake Holcombe to a pair of wins over Winter and New Auburn. First in the 61-33 win over New Auburn, she scored a game high 19 points. The Central Connecticut commit then poured in 29 points, 15 rebounds and 10 steals in the 49-27 win over New Auburn. In the game, Lechleitner surpassed 1,000 points in her prep career.

Andrew Rohde, Brookfield Central boys basketball: Rohde is one of the best basketball players in the Class of 2022 and in all of Wisconsin and has been dominant this season on the hardwood. Squaring off with a tough Menomonee Falls squad featuring two of the top players in the state in Seth Trimble and Steven Clay, Rohde was the best player on the court. The St. Thomas More commit finished with 32 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists in the Lancer's 76-65 win over Falls. Rohde then had 29 points, eight rebounds and five assists in a 71-56 win over cross-town rival Brookfield East.
