McFarland sophomore phenom Teagan Mallegni dropped 62 points in last night's 79-51 victory against East Troy in a Rock Valley contest.

The 62 points are the second-most in a game in girls' basketball state history. Former South Shore standout, Megan Gustafson, who later starred at the University of Iowa, holds the record with 64 points in a game.

Mallegni also finished with 10 rebounds, 6 steals, and two blocks in the win over East Troy.

The 6-0 wing/guard is leading the state with 28.2 points per game after the huge game for the Spartans.

She has scored over 20 points in all but one game this season and has other notable soring performances of 44 (win over Evansville) and 37 (win over Stoughton).

Mallegni, who holds a long list of NCAA Division I offers, also tallies 9.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 4.1 steals, and 1.5 blocks per game for coach and mother Sara Mallegni and the Spartans, which are 10-3 overall and 7-2 in the Rock Valley.

The sophomore has 635 career points in 17 games played. Mallegni and the Spartans played just 14 games last season due to COVID-19 protocols in Dane County, advancing to a Division 2 sectional final.
