RallyAroundUs Athlete of the Week Nominees: Feb. 28 - Mar. 6

Carly Drew, Westfield girls basketball: Drew was exceptional as she led Westfield to a pair of wins and a second consecutive WIAA State Tournament appearance. First in a 59-29 blowout of Auburndale, the sophomore guard scored a game high 25 points and added six steals and three assists. Westfield then squared off with Bonduel where Drew again had a team high 16 points in the 41-38 win. No bucket was bigger than the last for Drew. As time expired, Drew took an inbounds play and chucked a 30-foot, prayer of a hook shot, that went in at the buzzer to win the game.

Samantha Federici, Central Wisconsin Storm girls hockey: Federici was all over the ice, propelling the Storm to a WIAA State Tournament Championship this past week. In a 4-1 semi-final win over Madison Metro Lynx, the senior forward had two assists. Federici, a student at Wausau West, then netted her own hat trick as the Storm beat Onalaska 5-0 in the state championship.

Jace Fitzgerald, Rice Lake boys hockey: Fitzgerald accounted for five of the seven goals scored in the two state tournaments as Rice Lake captured its first state title in program history. First in a 3-1 win over Lakeland, Fitzgerald netted a lone goal and added two assists. He followed that up with another goal and a lone assist in a 4-3 win over Saint Mary's Springs in the WIAA Division 2 State Championship.

Mason Prey, Newman Catholic boys basketball: Prey filled the stat sheet in three regional games as Newman Catholic won another regional title. In a 77-30 win over Tri-County in the opening round, Prey had 25 points, eight rebounds and three assists. The 6'3" junior then came up two assists short of a triple-double in an 83-62 win over Pacelli, tallying 32 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists. In the regional final game against Spencer, Prey had 19 points, 14 rebounds and two assists in the 73-45, regional clinching victory.

Annika Rufenacht, Verona/Edgewood gymnastics: Rufenacht took home individual gold honors at the WIAA State Gymnastics Meet in Division 1. The sophomore gymnast scored the top all-around score of 38.116. She finished first in the vaulting with a score of 9.633, second in uneven bars at 9.6, second on the floor exercise at 9.4 and third on the balance beam with a score of 9.483.
