Waupun is headed to the Division 3 state championship game after cruising to a 47-29 win over Dominican in a state semifinal. 

The Warriors opened the game on a 21-4 run. After a run by Dominican, they held a 23-11 lead at halftime. 

Waupun's led almost the entire game and its largest lead was 20 points with 6:37 left in the game. The Warriors shot 17-for-47 from the floor, 5-for-15 from on three-pointers, and made 8 of 8 from the free throw line. They finished with 20 points in the paint and 16 points off turnovers in the victory. 

Sophomore Kayl Peterson, a 6-1 wing/forward, scored a game-high 22 points for coach Tim Aalsma and the Warriors. She shot 8-for-16 from the floor, 4-for-7 from three, and made both of her free throw attempts.

Senior forward Gaby Matamoros, a 6-1 UW-Whitewater commit, tallied 10 points and six rebounds, and fellow senior Abbie Aalsma, a 5-9 Illinois State signee, added nine points, three assists, and seven steals for the Warriors. 

Dominican was 9-for-37 from the floor, 0-for-5 from three, and 11-for-20 on free throws. The Knights turned the ball over 21 times in the loss. 

Junior Alicia Burgos Schroeder, a 6-1 forward, finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds for coach Kevin Schramka and the Knights. 

Waupun will play Freedom in the Division 3 state championship game on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

The Irish rolled past St. Croix Falls, 66-36, in a state semifinal.

Freedom jumped out to a 16-4 lead. St. Croix Falls battled back to get within five points before the Irish scored the final eight points of the half to lead 32-19 at the break. 

The Irish led all but 18 seconds of the contest. Their largest lead was 32 points with 4:24 left. 

Freedom shot 27-for-55 from the floor, 9-for-18 from three, and 3-for-7 from the free throw line. The Irish scored 28 points off of 18 St. Croix Falls turnovers. 

They were led by junior Sadie Jarmolowicz, a 5-10 guard, who tallied 22 points, seven assists, and three steals. She shot 9-for-13 from the floor, 3-for-5 on triples, and 1-for-3 from the free throw line. 

Senior Megan Alexander, a 6-1 NCAA Division II South Dakota Mines signee, and 6-0 junior Kierstin Kriewaldt each tallied 12 points for coach Mike Vander Loop and the Irish. 

St. Croix Falls shot 13-for-47 from the floor, 2-for-16 from three, and 8-for-15 on free throws in the loss. 

The Saints were led by junior Brianna McCurdy, a 5-7 guard, who finished with 11 points. She shot 5-for-15 from the floor for coach Angie Maternowsky and the Saints.
