Mineral Point was on a mission this year and finished a perfect 30-0, capped off with a WIAA Division 4 State championship.

The Pointers beat Westfield in the state semi-finals and then squared off with Laconia in the title game. Mineral Point took home a 53-42 victory.

Senior and UW-Platteville commit Blair Watters started the scoring for Point and helped build an 8-2 lead out of the gates.

Mineral Point senior Ella Chambers lit up the scoreboard in the first half scoring 15 points, including a trio of three pointers.

Laconia's balanced attack pulled the Spartans within 22-16 at halftime. Eva Engel had a team high five points at half. However that was as close as the Spartans would get.

Mineral Point's experience helped the Pointers extend the lead to 17 points halfway through the second half. That proved too much for the young Laconia team to overcome.

Senior point guard Mallory Lindsey scored 13 of her 14 points in the second half, going 8 of 10 from the free throw line overall. The aforementioned Chambers finished with a game high 20 points, connecting on four three point shots.

Blair Watters finished the game with seven points and ten rebounds while Kennedy Wenger had six points, eleven rebounds and six assists.

Laconia senior Molly Johannes finished with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Freshman Tierney Madigan scored a team high 14 points while hauling in nine rebounds.

Mineral Point didn't trail throughout the game as its defense held Laconia to 26% shooting from the field and just 3 of 22 (14%) from beyond the arc.

The Pointers were making their second consecutive trip to state after coming up short as the runner-up in 2021. In just their third state appearance, Mineral Point has won two gold balls; the first coming in 2016
