The 2022 Division 1 WBCA all-state team is highlighted by repeat first-team all-state selections KK Arnold of Germantown, Grace Grocholski of Kettle Moraine, Emily LaChapell of Appleton East, Kamy Peppler of Hortonville, Jordan Meulemans of De Pere, and Allie Ziebell of Neenah. 

Arnold, who is committed to UConn, led Germantown to a 23-5 record and sectional final appearance. The 5-10 point guard averaged 24.8 points, 7.8 rebounds, 7.2 assists, and 4.4 steals per game for coach Matt Stuve and the Warhawks. Arnold, who earned honorable mention all-state as a freshman, led the Warhawks to the state title last season and will enter her senior year with 1,783 career points. She is one of the top juniors in the nation. 

Grocholski led Kettle Moraine to a 27-3 record and its first state title since 1999. The 5-10 wing/forward averaged 21.7 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 2.3 steals per contest for coach Todd Hansen and the Lasers which finished the year with a 27-3 record. Grocholski, who was selected as the Classic Eight Player of the Year, will enter her senior year with 1,579 career points. The Division I prospect also earned honorable mention all-state as a freshman. 

LaChapell, a Marquette University signee, led Appleton East to a state runner-up finish and 25-5 overall record. The 5-11 guard tallied 20.5 points, 7.1 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 1.8 steals per game for coach and father Joe LaChapell and the Patriots which made their first state tournament appearance since 1998. Emily also earned honorable mention all-state as a sophomore. LaChapell, the co-player of the year of the FVA, finished her career as the school’s all-time leading scorer with 1.885 points. She also collected 735 rebounds and 505 assists in her career. 

Peppler, a UW-Milwaukee signee, led Hortonville to a 24-2 record and a sectional semifinal appearance. The 5-6 point guard averaged 13.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and 3.3 steals per game for coach Celeste Ratka and the Polar Bears. Peppler, who was named first-team all-state the past two years in Division 2, took home FVA co-player of the year honors and was named Ms. Basketball. She finished her career with 1,201 points, 475 assists, and 304 steals. 

Meulemans, an NCAA Division I Butler University signee, led De Pere to the state tournament and a 24-5 record. The 6-0 guard tallied 25 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 2.2 steals per game for coach Jeremy Boileau and the Redbirds. Meulemans, an honorable mention all-state pick as a sophomore, was named FRCC Player of the Year. She connected on over 90 three-pointers this season and finished her career as the school’s all-time leading scorer with 1,874 points. 

Ziebell, who is one of the top sophomores in the nation, led Neenah to a sectional final appearance, falling to state runner-up Appleton East, and finishing the year with a 22-6 record. The 6-0 guard led the state in scoring with 30.2 points per game and connected on 105 three-pointers to go along with tallying 7.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 3.6 steals per contest for coach Andy Braunel and the Rockets. Ziebell was named first-team all-FVA and will enter her junior year with 1.280 points. 

Alaina Harper, who is signed with NCAA Division I Grand Canyon State University, led Arrowhead to a sectional final and a 22-5 record. The 6-3 forward was named first-team Classic Eight and averaged 17.1 points and 12.5 rebounds per game for coach Rick Witte and the Warhawks. She was an honorable mention all-state selection last season. Harper finished her career with 940 points and 815 rebounds. 

Lyric Johnson, an NCAA Division I Eastern Illinois signee, helped lead Hortonville to a 24-2 overall record and a sectional semifinal appearance. The 5-9 guard tallied 12.7 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 3.5 steals per game for coach Ratka and the Polar Bears. Johnson, a first-team all-FVA selection and honorable mention D2 all-state pick as a junior, scored 957 points in her career. 

Annika Pluemer led Brookfield East to a 25-4 record and the program’s first state tournament appearance since 2004. The Spartans fell to state runner-up Appleton East, 44-40, in a state semifinal. Pluemer, a 5-9 guard, averaged 17 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 2.5 steals per game for coach Tyler Saxton and the Spartans. She was a first-team all-Greater Metro selection and will enter her senior year with 1,008 career points. 

Demetria Prewitt led Madison La Follette to a 14-8 record and a regional final appearance. The 5-11 guard was named Big Eight Player of the Year and averaged 18.8 points, 8.7 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 3.4 steals, and 2.0 blocks per game for coach Will Green and the Lancers. Prewitt finished her career with 741 points. She missed her sophomore year due to a knee injury and her junior year due to Madison School District canceling winter sports due to COVID-19. 

Braelyn Torres helped lead Kettle Moraine to the program’s first state title since 1999. The 5-8 guard averaged 14.4 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 3.4 steals per contest for coach Hansen and the Lasers which finished the year with a 27-3 record, defeating Appleton East in the championship game. Torres, a first-team all-Classic Eight selection, will enter her senior year with 971 career points.
