The Division 3 WBCA all-state team is headlined by three-time selection Lily Krahn of Prairie du Chien.
Three others were repeat selections: Abbie Aalsma of Waupun, Leah Lemke of Wrightstown, and Grace Schmidt of Watertown Luther Prep.
Krahn, who is signed with the Wisconsin Badgers, led Prairie du Chien to a regional final appearance and 24-2 overall record. The 5-10 guard tallied 20.6 points, 4.5 rebounds, 5.2 assists, and 3.2 steals per game for coach Paula Shedivy and the Blackhawks. Krahn was one of the top three-point shooters in the state, making 84 on the year, and was selected as the SWC Player of the Year. She finished her career with 1,712 points and 244 three-pointers made.
Aalsma, an NCAA Division I Illinois State University signee, led Waupun to the program’s first state title and a 27-3 overall record. The 5-9 guard averaged 21.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 3.2 steals per game for coach and father Tim Aalsma and the Warriors. She was among the state leaders in three-pointers made with 105. Aalsma, who earned honorable mention all-state as a freshman and sophomore, was named co-player of the year of the East Central. She compiled 2,055 points and connected on 348 three-pointers in her career.
Lemke, an NCAA Division III UW-Oshkosh commit, led Wrightstown to a regional final before falling to state runner-up Freedom to finish the year with a 20-6 record. The 5-8 point guard tallied 16.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.2 steals per game for coach Mike Froehlke and the Tigers. Lemke, who played a key role in their state tournament appearance as a sophomore, was voted first-team all-North Eastern. She compiled 1,228 points in her career.
Schmidt, an NCAA Division I California Baptist signee, led Watertown Luther Prep to a 16-8 record and a regional final appearance. The 6-1 forward averaged 22.5 points, 10.7 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 2.0 steals per contest for coach Eric Paulsen and the Phoenix. Schmidt, an honorable mention performer as a sophomore, was selected as the Capitol North Player of the Year. She finished her career with 1,878 points and 1,085 rebounds.
Megan Alexander, an NCAA Division II South Dakota Mines signee, helped Freedom to a state runner-up finish and a 28-2 overall record. The 6-0 forward contributed 13.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per contest for coach Mike Vander Loop and the Irish. Alexander was a first-team all-NEC selection and ends her high school career with 750 points.
Madilyn Dogs led Kewaskum to an appearance in sectional play before falling to state champion Waupun to end the year with a 23-4 record. The 5-11 guard tallied 13.7 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 4.0 steals, and 1.5 blocks per contest for coach Russell Thull and the Indians. Dogs, a first-team all-East Central performer, has compiled 750 points in her career.
Gracie Gopalan played a key role in Waupun claiming the program’s first gold ball. The 5-2 point guard averaged 7.9 points and 4.9 assists per game for coach Aalsma and the 27-3 Warriors. Gopalan was chosen as a first-team all-East Central performer.
Sadie Jarmolowicz, the North Eastern Player of the Year, led Freedom to 28-2 record, ending the year as the state runner-up after losing to Waupun in the championship game. The 5-10 guard tallied 16 points, 3.9 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 3.4 steals, and 1.5 blocks per game for coach Vander Loop and the Irish. She also connected on 57 three-pointers. Jarmolowicz will enter her senior year with 801 career points.
Grace Lomen, an NCAA Division II UW-Parkside signee, led Catholic Memorial to a regional final appearance and a 14-11 overall record. The 5-9 wing/guard averaged 20.7 points, 10.9 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 3.7 steals, and 1.7 blocks per game for the Crusaders which finished the year under the direction of interim coach Nick Vitale. Lomen, who earned first-team all-Classic Eight, concluded her career with 1,343 points and 748 rebounds.
Kayl Petersen helped lead Waupun to the program’s first state championship and a 27-3 record. The 6-1 wing/forward averaged 16.9 points, 9.4 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 2.2 blocks per contest for coach Aalsma and the Warriors. Petersen, who holds NCAA Division I offers, shared ECC Player of the Year honors with teammate Abbie Aalsma. Kayl has 815 career points through her sophomore season.
Megan Schuman led Brillion to a sectional final appearance, falling to state runner-up Freedom, to finish the year with a 24-4 record. The 6-0 wing/forward tallied 18.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game for coach Jeff Capelle and the Lions. Schuman, a first-team all-EWC selection, will enter her senior year with 1,300 career points.
