JJ Paider of Neenah has been selected as the top senior Post Player as part of the WSN Senior Basketball Awards.

After a junior season in which he averaged 4.6 points and 3.5 rebounds, Paider enjoyed a breakout senior season by averaging 11.7 points, 11.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists as a senior while helping the Rockets of Neenah to a 29-1 record and the WIAA Division 1 state championship.

Paider, a 6-foot-7 forward with a strong back-to-basket game, shot 66 percent from the field and 57 percent from the foul line.

His ability to block/alter shots, dominate the glass and score around the hoop and from the mid range were vitally important to Neenah's run to the state title. He had 17 points, 14 rebounds and five assists in the Rockets' 60-52 win over Racine Case in the state semifinals, and then finished with 14 points and 18 rebounds in Neenah's 64-52 state-title game win over Brookfield Central.

Paider remains undecided about his future in basketball, but is being recruiting by a number of schools in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC).

Finalists for the award were Paider, Travis Alvin of Randolph, Noah Feddersen of Menomonie, Amari Jedkins of Racine Case and Jake Naber of Janesville Parker.

Past winners of the award include Cade Meyer of Monroe (2021), Grant Manke of Bangor (2020), David Skogman of Waukesha West (2019), Grant Basile of Pewaukee (2018), Owen Hamilton of Prescott (2017), Taurus Adams of Brown Deer (2016), Diamond Stone of Dominican (2015), Davante Jackson of Brown Deer (2014), Luke Fischer of Germantown (2013), and Luke Heller of D.C.
