Elmwood/Plum City forward Webb picked as state's top senior defender

Luke Webb of Elmwood/Plum City has been selected as the top senior Defender as part of the WSN Senior Basketball Awards.

Webb, a 6-foot-7 forward, ranked among state leaders in both rebounding (12.8 rpg) and blocked shots (3.5 bspg). He also contributed 18.4 ppg, 3.5 apg and 1.8 spg while helping Elmwood/Plum City to a 19-7 record.

A versatile player with a long wingspan and the ability to impact the game on so many different levels, Webb was voted Player of the Year in the Dunn-St. Croix Conference.

During his four-year prep career, Webb scored 1,155 points, grabbed 841 rebounds and blocked 167 shots. He earned first-team all-league recognition as a junior and senior, and second-team laurels as a sophomore. 

Webb is committed to NCAA Division III UW-River Falls and plans to play football and basketball at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference school. 

Finalists for the award were Webb, Leon Bond of Wauwatosa East, Ryan Carew of Whitefish Bay, Brennen Dvoracheck of Reedsville and Brock Wester of Iola-Scandinavia. 

Past winners of the award include Jayden Jackson of Whitefish Bay (2021), Keonte Jones of Madison East (2020), Lucas Stieber of Green Bay Southwest (2019), Jordan Dinsmore of Milwaukee Washington (2018), Chris Knight of Madison Memorial (2017), Kostas Antetokounmpo of Dominican (2016), Dwayne Lawhorn Jr. of Germantown (2015), Jordan Shea of Lodi (2014), Bronson Koenig of Aquinas (2013), and Zak Showalter of Germantown (2012).
