Hometown Ticketing Athlete of the Week: April 11-17

Below are the Hometown Ticketing Athlete of the Week Nominees for the week of April 11-17. Voting is open until Thursday at 4 pm, so be sure to vote for who you feel is most deserving and spread the word. Users may vote once per day.

Hometown Ticketing Athlete of the Week Nominees: Apr. 11-17

Ashlyn Bennin, Mishicot softball: Bennin picked up a trio of wins on the mound last week for the Mishicot softball squad. First, she pulled out a complete game win in a 5-4 decision over Random Lake. Bennin struck out six in the contest and had one hit and one RBI from the plate. Bennin then was one walk away from a perfect game in a 15-0 win over Cedar Grove-Belgium. She struck out thirteen batters in the no-hitter and added two hits and two runs scored from the plate. Bennin finished the week by striking out seven and allowing one hit in a four-inning 16-0 win over Manitowoc Lutheran. She added another hit, walk and RBI from the plate.

Brody Kluge, Badger boys track and field: Kluge was a part of the Badger boys team that took first at the Southern Lakes Conference Relays, hosted at Westosha Central High School this past week. Kluge took home a pair of first place finishes, first in the triple jump with a length of 40 feet, one inch. He then won the long jump at 20 feet, four inches. Kluge also took second in the high jump at five feet, ten inches and was a part of the four 4x400 meter relay team that took second place.

Karlie McKenzie, Monona Grove softball: McKenzie was exceptional, picking up three wins in dominant fashion last week. First in a 3-0 win over McFarland, McKenzie came one error shy of a perfect game. She struck out 16 batters in the no hitter and added two hits from the plate. She then struck out eight and gave up no hits in three innings of work, earning the win in a 14-4 decision over Edgewood. She added a hit, a run scored and two RBIs with her bat. McKenzie finished the week, striking out ten batters and surrendering one unearned run in a seven-inning, complete game, 8-1 win over Monroe. She added two hits and two RBIs from the plate.

Haley Mersberger, Elkhart-Lake Glenbeulah girls soccer: Despite only playing one match this past week, Mersberger was more than impressive on the pitch for the Resorters girls soccer squad. The senior forward netted her own double hat trick in a 9-2 win over Ozaukee. Mersberger scored six goals in the rout, bringing her season total to ten goals in three matches.

Nate Snead, South Milwaukee baseball: Snead almost pitched a perfect, perfect game this past week in a 10-0, five-inning win over Cudahy. The Iowa-Western CC commit saw fifteen total batters in his perfect game, and he struck out an incredible fourteen of them. Snead added two hits, two RBIs, a walk and a run scored from the plate to add to his already outstanding day.
