Bug Tussel Wireless Triple Threat Athlete of the Week: Kale Hopke, Amery

The Bug Tussel Wireless Triple Threat Athlete of the Week is an honor given on WisSports.net to the top senior boys and girls three-sport athletes in the state. Players are recognized each week on WSN, with the a boys and girls winner of the Pat Richter Award at the end of the season to the best three-sport athlete of the year.

The goal and mission of Bug Tussel Wireless is to level the playing field for rural residents despite where they may live. Whether you work from home, your office is downtown or you are manning the family farm, they believe residents should be connected without having to compromise speed, price, quality, service or the environment.

Football Honors: Four-year varsity starter and four-year letter winner for Amery ... Passed for 2,990 career yards nd 22 touchdowns while rushing for 280 yards and seven touchdowns ... Played quarterback and defensive back for coaches Jesse Rose and Ryan Humpel ... Served as the Warriors' team captain.

Wrestling Honors: Four time WIAA Individual State Wrestling Tournament qualifier ... Named to the All-Academic team ... Won the 195-pound Division 2 state championship and finished 23-0 on the season as a junior ... Finished runner-up at 195 as a senior at state and completed season with a 42-11 record ... Helped Amery to consecutive Division 2 state team wrestling titles. 

Baseball Honors: One of the better pitching prospects in the state, Hopke holds the Amery single-season strikeout record by recording 117 strikeouts and the single-game strikeout mark, fanning 19 in one contest ... Also holds the school career strikeout record with 208 and counting ... Captain and first-team all-Middle Border Conference pitcher as a junior.
