Chippewa Falls junior Brooklyn Sandvig has been selected as the Hometown Ticketing Athlete of the Week for the week of May 16-22 after a statewide vote on WisSports.net.

There were 3,802 total votes this week. Sandvig topped all vote getters with 1,417 votes. Kettle Moraine Lutheran's came in second with 1,188 votes.

Sandvig had one of the best days in track history in the state this past week at the Big Rivers Conference Championships. She set four school and Big Rivers Conference records. All of Sandvig's results also landed at least in the top 11 of state history marks. She won the long jump at 19 feet, 5.5 inches, which is the eleventh longest in state history and the longest distance this spring. She won the 100 meter and 200 meter dashes in times of 11.63 and 23.97 seconds respectively. Both times are the fastest of the spring and rank seventh in state history. Sandvig also won the 400 meter race in 54.59 seconds which ranks fifth all time in state history and also was the fastest of the spring throughout the state. She was named the Big Rivers Championships MVP. Overall Sandvig broke four school and conference records, set top marks in the state in each competition, and all four results were at least top 11 in state history.

Sandvig competed at the Hudson regionals this past Monday and advanced in four events. She won the 100 meter dash, 200 meter dash, 400 meter run and the long jump.

The sensational junior then competed at the Marshfield sectional where she again won all four of the events mentioned before, advancing to the state meet in all four.

She'll look to continue her dominance next weekend at the WIAA State Track & Field Championships in La Crosse.
