Hometown Ticketing Athlete of the Week Nominees: May 30 - June 5

Nathan Cumberbatch, Shorewood boys track and field: Cumberbatch repeated as champion in both the 400 and 800 meter races this past weekend as well as anchoring a winning relay. In the 400 meter race, the junior won in 49.33 seconds. He won the 800 meter race in 1:52.84. Cumberbatch then anchored the 4x400 meter relay team that won the event in 3:24.16. The junior runner attributed to 30 of the 46 points for Shorewood, which was good enough for the Greyhounds to win the Division 2 State team title.

Kayci Martensen, Benton/Scales Mound girls track and field: Martensen finished her prep career with three individual titles this past weekend in La Crosse. She won the 800 meter race in 2:17.47. The senior runner also won the 1,600 meter and 3,200 meter races in Division 3 in 4:57.05 and 10:59.07 respectively. Martensen repeated as champion in all three events from last season as she finished with eight total track championships in her prep career.

Paytn Monticelli, Cedarburg softball: Monticelli was incredible on the mound and at the plate as she led Cedarburg back to the WIAA State Tournament. First in a 7-1 win over DSHA in the sectional semi-finals, she pitched a complete game with 19 strikeouts as she allowed one run on one hit. She went one from three with an RBI from the plate. Monticelli then pitched another complete game in an 11-2 win over Menomonee Falls in the sectional finals. The UW-Madison commit struck out 11 batters, allowing two unearned runs and one hit. From the plate, Monticelli went three for four with a home run and three RBIs.

Parker Schneider, Durand boys track and field: Schneider won all three distance races in Division 3 as Durand finished third as a team overall. He won the 3,200 meter race in 9:19.51, nearly eight seconds ahead of second place. Schneider then repeated as champion in the 800 and 1,600 meter races, running them in 1:54.29 and 4:17.79 respectively. Schneider finished his prep career with five state titles.

Roisin Willis, Stevens Point girls track and field: Willis had a record breaking day at La Crosse this past weekend. The senior runner broke her own record from her freshman season in the 800 meter race, winning it in 2:00.03. Not only is that mark a state record, but it was faster than the published national high school record as well. Aside from her record setting performance in the 800, Willis was the anchor for the 4x400 meter relay team that finished runner-up in the event.
