Bug Tussel Triple Threat Athlete of the Week: Isabelle Coon, St. Mary's Springs

The Bug Tussel Triple Threat Athlete of the Week is an honor given on WisSports.net to the top senior boys and girls three-sport athletes in the state. Players are recognized each week on WSN, with the a boys and girls winner of the Pat Richter Award at the end of the season to the best three-sport athlete of the year.

The goal and mission of Bug Tussel is to level the playing field for rural residents despite where they may live. Whether you work from home, your office is downtown or you are manning the family farm, they believe residents should be connected without having to compromise speed, price, quality, service or the environment.

Volleyball Honors: Four-year starter for the Ledgers.. second-team All-Flyway as a freshman... unanimous first-team all-league as a sophomore, junior and senior... Flyway Player of the Year as a senior... team MVP as a junior and senior... team captain as a senior... second-team AVCA Best and Brightest... AVCA High School All-Region Team... coached by Michelle Born and Kelly Mueller... 

Basketball Honors: Four-year varsity performer (three-year starter) for coach Mitch Redig and the Ledgers... second-team all-conference as a sophomore and junior... first-team all-conference as a senior... team MVP as a junior and senior... team captain as a senior... member of WBCA Academic All-State Team as a freshman, sophomore and junior... the 5-9 wing led the team in with 11.4 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per game as a senior for the 22-5 Ledgers which advanced to a Division 4 sectional semifinal before falling to eventual state runner-up Laconia... 

Track & Field Honors: Two-year state qualifier for coach Ashley Jefferson and the Ledgers... state qualifier in the long jump as a junior and senior... placed third at the state meet for Division 3 as a senior... state qualifier in the 4x100 and 4x200 relays as a senior... finished second in the 4x200 relay for D3 as a senior... state champion in the 4x100 relay for Division 3 as a senior... second-team all-conference in 4x100 relay as a junior... first-team all-league in the long jump as a junior and senior... first-team all-conference in 4x100 relay as a senior... second-team all-league in 4x200 relay as a senior... 

Favorite Sport (and why): "My favorite sport is volleyball because it has always given me a feeling of happiness and confidence. It has brought so many amazing people into my life and has given me a second family. I know that I can always count on my teammates, both on and off the court." 

Best Part of High School Sports (and why): "The best part of high school sports is the bonds I make with my teammates. After spending every day after school with the same people, I really felt like they became a second family to me. I will cherish the friendships I have made through high school sports." 

Best Advice from a High School Coach: "Before every basketball game, my coach, Mitch Redig would write on the whiteboard, 'Focus on the little things'. This is important to me because it made me realize that even the smallest things can provide joy, which could be necessary to keep going in the difficult times. Not only does this apply to basketball, but to life as well."

Most Memorable Moment in High School Sports: "My most memorable moment in high school sports is my junior year volleyball season. We made the state tournament for the first time in the WIAA school history. It was an amazing experience to represent our school and community." 

Best Part of Playing Three Sports: "I truly love playing three sports because of the switch of seasons and teams! Each season brings something new, working out with new teammates and competing against different people." 

Toughest Part of Playing Three Sports: "Time management is the toughest part, going from sport to sport is tough to make time for school, friends, family, and other outside things. It takes a lot of physical and mental toughness to do it. It is challenging but so rewarding in the end." 

Favorite Opponent (and why): "Definitely Laconia because they have always been my biggest opponent. They have very talented athletes and no matter what sport it is, we always make it a good game or meet to watch.:

Favorite Professional Team: Green Bay Packers 

Favorite Professional Athlete: "Micheal Jordan because he is someone that I have always looked up to. One of my favorite quotes from him is, 'I can accept failure, everyone fails at something. But I can’t accept not trying'."

Favorite College Team: Wisconsin Badgers. "My favorite sports to watch are football and volleyball."

Cumulative GPA: 4.082

Toughest Individual You’ve Competed Against (and why): "Alayna Suprenand is the toughest and strongest person that I have competed against. After her two tore ACL injuries, she came back better than ever. She is very competitive and a tough opponent in both basketball and volleyball. Not only is she an amazing athlete, but an even better person." 

Most Admired High School Teammate (and why): "My most admired high school teammate is Sydney Pitz. She is currently a junior and is one of my best friends. She has been involved in the same sports, volleyball, basketball, and track for the past couple of years with me. I will greatly miss playing sports with her and admire how hard she works."

College Plans: "I will be attending the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh to pursue a career in nursing!"

Activities Outside of Sports: "I love to travel, hike, four-wheel, snowmobile, water ski, downhill ski, hunt, fish, and going on the boat." 

I Find it Relaxing to: "Going out into nature always is relaxing to me, whether it's taking a walk or bike ride." 

Favorite TV Show: "My favorite TV show is Criminal Minds and Outer Banks."

Favorite Movie: "My favorite movies are the Marvel Superhero movies."

Favorite Musical Artist: "My absolute favorite artist is Morgan Wallen. I hope to see him in concert someday."

Favorite Subject: "Psychology is my favorite subject because it is so interesting learning about how the mind works."

Favorite Restaurant: "My favorite restaurant is Ala Roma, it is a fantastic Italian restaurant in Fond du Lac."  

Favorite Website: "My favorite app is Snapchat and my favorite website is Amazon." 

Other Family Members: "My parents John and Aundrea Coon. I also have three siblings, John, Lexi, and Ana. Plus my two golden retrievers."
