Bug Tussel Triple Threat Athlete of the Week: Logan Dobberstein, Pewaukee

The Bug Tussel Triple Threat Athlete of the Week is an honor given on WisSports.net to the top senior boys and girls three-sport athletes in the state. Players are recognized each week on WSN, with the a boys and girls winner of the Pat Richter Award at the end of the season to the best three-sport athlete of the year.

The goal and mission of Bug Tussel is to level the playing field for rural residents despite where they may live. Whether you work from home, your office is downtown or you are manning the family farm, they believe residents should be connected without having to compromise speed, price, quality, service or the environment.

High School: Pewaukee

Grade: Senior

Football Honors: Four-year varsity letter winner for the Pirates ... Helped Pewaukee to a 12-2 record and the WIAA Division 3 state championship as a senior ... A 6-foot-6 quarterback, 210-pound quarterback.

Basketball Honors: Four-time varsity letter winner ... Played a key role on the Pirates WIAA Division 2 state-championship teams in 2021 and 2022 ... Averaged 5.5 points and 3.9 rebounds as a senior as Pewaukee went 27-2 under coach David Burkemper. 

Baseball Honors: Four-year letter winner ... Second-team all-Woodland Conference pick as a freshman ... Sophomore season canceled because of Covid-19 ... First-team all-league choice as a junior ... First-team all-district, second-team all-state, Division 1 Southeast District Player of the Year ... State qualifier in 2022 ... Entered state tournament with a .385 batting average with 27 RBIs.

Favorite Sport: "Baseball, because I love the one-on-one battles in the game, pitcher versus hitter, hitter versus pitcher." 

Best Part of High School Sports: "Making it to state five times and winning three state championships, with hopefully one more on the way."

Best Advice from a High School Coach: "Be humble."

Most Memorable Moments in High School Sports: "In football, a game-winning catch my freshman year at McFarland in a playoff game as a No. 2 seed over a No. 7 seed. In basketball, winning back-to-back state titles. In baseball, throwing a perfect game against New Berlin Eisenhower my junior year."

Best Part of Playing Three Sports: "The fact you are always competing."

Toughest Part of Playing Three Sports: "The year-round demands of every sport. It makes it almost impossible to do these days. Almost."

Favorite Opponent: "Wisconsin Lutheran in basketball, Greendale in baseball."

Favorite Professional Teams: Milwaukee Brewers, Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Bucks

Favorite Professional Athletes: "Michael Jordan, Brett Favre."

Toughest Individual You’ve Competed Against: "To be honest, the toughest guys I have competed against have been my teammates that I went against in practice all these years. Guys like Milan Momcilovic, Josh Terrian, Ashton Janowski and Nick Janowski in hoops. And Grant Ross and Carson Hansen in baseball."

Biggest Challenge of COVID-19: "Missing competition. But the COVID shutdown turned out to be the best thing for me. I was able to lift, eat, and sleep in a way that never happened otherwise."
