Bug Tussel Triple Threat Athlete of the Week: Amber Grosse, Edgewood

The Bug Tussel Triple Threat Athlete of the Week is an honor given on WisSports.net to the top senior boys and girls three-sport athletes in the state. Players are recognized each week on WSN, with the a boys and girls winner of the Pat Richter Award at the end of the season to the best three-sport athlete of the year.

The goal and mission of Bug Tussel is to level the playing field for rural residents despite where they may live. Whether you work from home, your office is downtown or you are manning the family farm, they believe residents should be connected without having to compromise speed, price, quality, service or the environment.

Volleyball Honors: Academic high honors... coached by Eliza Zwettler... 

Basketball Honors: Four-year varsity performer for the Crusaders... coached by WBCA Hall of Fame head coach Lora Staveness... first-team all-Badger West as a senior... WBCA Division 3 honorable mention All-State... the 5-10 wing/guard averaged 8.7 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per game as a senior for the 19-9 Crusaders... 

Track & Field Honors: Conference, Sectional, and Regional Champion... state finalist in 100m hurdles, 300m hurdles, long jump, and 800m relay... first at state meet in 300m hurdles and 800m relay... sixth at state in long jump and seventh in 100m hurdles.. coached by Jeff Gifford... 

Favorite Sport (and why): "Track is my favorite sport because it involves a large team who all support each other. I also enjoy that there are individual accomplishments and the team atmosphere continues to be supportive."

Best Part of High School Sports (and why): "My favorite part was winning (Badger) conference for girls track my junior and senior year after not having a sophomore year." 

Best Advice from a High School Coach: "Don't be afraid to fail on your own and make mistakes, that's why you have your teammates to lift you up and support you." 

Most Memorable Moment in High School Sports: "I enjoyed the home events where the community comes to support one another. I also love how close we get because of the smaller community while we still remain welcoming to others."

Best Part of Playing Three Sports: "I made so many friends and made so many connections with different people because I was able and fortunate to play three sports." 

Toughest Part of Playing Three Sports: "Never having an off-season. While some of my athletic friends were off for a sport I played with them in, I was moving on to the next season which really took up my schedule and always kept me busy." 

Favorite Opponent (and why): "Sauk for volleyball, Oregon for
basketball, Multiple teams depending on the event for track." 

Favorite Professional Team: Milwaukee Bucks 

Favorite Professional Athlete: Giannis Antetokounmpo

Favorite College Team: Wisconsin Badgers

Toughest Individual You’ve Competed Against (and why): "Hurdlers from Fon du Lac, Deforest, and Madison Memorial." 

Most Admired High School Teammate (and why): "Maisy Andes always was a leader for the team and put the team first with the basketball (which I played with her in) and she continues to do it in soccer as well."

College Plans: "Run Track and Field at UW-La Crosse and major in Biology on a Pre-Physicians Assistant Track." 

Activities Outside of Sports: "I enjoy art and hanging with friends and eating food." 

I Find it Relaxing to: "Sleep and watch a movie."
