Jolly Good Week 3 Player of the Week Nominees

Brock Koeppel, Westosha Central

Westosha Central has not been in the playoffs since 2010, but the Falcons scored a huge opening Southern Lakes Conference victory over defending league champion Union Grove, 43-24. Quarterback Brock Koeppel was outstanding, completing 15-of-26 passes for 311 yards and four touchdowns. He also scored a rushing touchdown in the victory.

Sawyer Kowalkowski, Ozaukee

Ozaukee built a 26-7 lead on Random Lake on Friday night, only to see the Rams rally to pull within a single score on multiple occasions in the fourth. Sawyer Kowalkowski finally put things away with a 56-yard touchdown run, capping off a huge day as the Warriors won 40-28. He finished with eight carries for 76 yards and a touchdown, caught six passes for 201 yards and three touchdowns, and recorded two interceptions on defense, one of which he returned for a touchdown. He also handled the punt and kick return duties and booted a pair of extra points.

Nate Lawrence, Benton/Scales Mound/Shullsburg

Benton/Scales Mound/Shullsburg broke open a close game in the second quarter thanks to a trio of Nate Lawrence touchdown scampers, pulling away for a 48-20 victory over Cuba City. Lawrence finished with five rushing touchdowns, carrying the ball 16 times for 167 yards. He also had seven receptions for 94 yards and a touchdown receiving.

Ray Reineck, Wausau West

Wausau West showed it will be a strong contender in the VFA once again, defeating one of the other tri-champs from last year, Wisconsin Rapids, 20-17 on Friday night. West trailed 17-6 at halftime, but Ray Reineck scored a pair of touchdowns after the break, including the game-winning score from 15 yards out in the fourth quarter. Reineck finished with 225 yards and three touchdowns on 22 carries for the Warriors.

Blake Schraufnagel, Mayville

Returning All-State running back Blake Schraufnagel has put up huge numbers once again this season, and he needed every yard on Friday night as the Cardinals had to rally to defeat Campbellsport 33-29 to open the Flyway Conference season. Schraufnagel accounted for all five touchdowns, including the game-winner in the fourth quarter. He finished with 232 yards on 24 carries, adding a pair of receptions for 64 yards in the victory.
