Hometown Ticketing Athlete of the Week Nominees: August 29 - September 4

Andrew Brown, Neillsville/Granton

Neillsville/Granton downed Elk Mound 35-8 in its opening Cloverbelt Conference game of the 2022 season. Brown was explosive, scoring three touchdowns on the night. The senior halfback rushed 16 times for 234 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. He added a 70 yard punt return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter. Brown also handled kicking duties and was one for two on extra points.

Landon Deneen, Spooner/Shell Lake

Deneen has come out of the gate on a scoring spree for the Spooner/Shell Lake boys soccer team. This past week was no different for the senior forward. In a 5-3 win over Cumberland, Deneen netted four goals himself. He followed that up with three more goals and two assists as Spooner/Shell Lake shut out Barron 6-0.

Lauren Lupinek, Oconomowoc

Lupinek shot the lowest score in both rounds of the Classic 8 Conference Mega Mini-Meet this past week. The junior golfer shot a 36 in the first round, held at The Legend At Brandybrook in Wales. Lupinek then shot a 39 in round 2 at Merrill Hills Country Club in Waukesha. Her overall score of 75 was good enough to win the first conference meet by four strokes.

Abby Ongna, Marshfield

Marshfield won its own home invite this past weekend, and Ongna was a big reason why. The junior outside hitter recorded 34 kills and 34 digs over the five matches. Marshfield went a perfect 5-0, not dropping a single set in wins over Ripon, Ladysmith, Ashwaubenon, Antigo and Abbotsford. Earlier in the week Ongna had 14 kills as Marshfield swept Stevens Point 3-0 in its Wisconsin Valley Conference opener.

Mariah Potter, Xavier

Potter assisted tremendously in Xavier's first place finish at the Notre Dame Invite this past weekend. The junior setter tallied 106 assists as the Hawks went 5-0 with wins over Notre Dame, West De Pere, Kewaskum and two wins over Brookfield Central, including in the championship match. Potter added 29 digs, five kills and four aces on the day.
