Jolly Good Week 5 Player of the Week Nominees

Caden Healy, Colby

In a showdown of two of the top small school programs in the state, defending Division 6 state champion Colby pulled away from Division 7 top-ranked Edgar for a 32-6 victory in the Marawood Conference on Friday night. Senior Caden Healy was all over the field, leading the team with 26 carries for 200 yards and two touchdowns, also catching a 29-yard touchdown and pacing the way with seven tackles on defense.

Nate Kollath, Sussex Hamilton

Sussex Hamilton took control of the Greater Metro Conference race with a 49-24 victory over Division 2, second-ranked Brookfield Central on Friday night. Senior quarterback Nate Kollath was dynamic, accounting for 440 yards of offense and five touchdowns. He completed 18-of-24 passes for 251 yards and two touchdowns while also leading the team with 19 rush attempts for 189 yards and three more scores. Two of those rushing touchdowns helped put the game away in the fourth quarter, when BC had pulled within 11 points.

Gabe Passini, Middleton

Middleton kept itself in the hunt in the Big Eight and certainly muddied things in the league race with a 45-21 victory over previously undefeated Madison Memorial. Junior quarterback Gabe Passini had the best game of his career, completing 13-of-20 passes for 158 yards and two touchdowns, adding eight rushes for 108 yards and two scores on the ground as well.

Sean Ryan, New Berlin West

New Berlin West took down crosstown rival New Berlin Eisenhower 28-9 on Friday night in the Kwik Trip and Wisconsin Dairy Game of the Week. West ground out the win with a strong rushing attack and defensive effort, with sophomore Sean Ryan playing a big role in both facets. He carried the ball nine times for 44 yards, but also was an impact player on defense. He returned a fumble 67 yards for a touchdown early in the fourth quarter to help put the game away and also recorded an interception while sharing the team lead with nine tackles.

Michael Tyler, Jr., Shorewood/Messmer

Shorewood/Messmer led most of the way, but still saw South Milwaukee cut it to a one-score game a couple different times in the fourth quarter. The Greyhounds managed to do just enough to hold on to a 41-36 victory, rolling up 456 yards as a team. The bulk of those came from senior running back Michael Tyler, Jr., who rushed 31 times for 304 yards and four touchdowns. The win moves Shorewood/Messmer to 3-2 overall and 2-1 in the Woodland Conference.
