Week 5 WisSports.net Football Coaches Poll

Week 4 WisSports.net Football Coaches Poll
Week 3 WisSports.net Football Coaches Poll
Week 2 WisSports.net Football Coaches Poll
Week 1 WisSports.net Football Coaches Poll

Please note, divisional placement in our poll is based on our Enrollment Projections done earlier this year. Divisional placement in the WIAA playoffs is not determined until after the season and these projections can and will be different than the divisions at the end of the year.

Division 1

Another week, another impressive win for top-ranked Mukwonago, who downed third-ranked Muskego 24-6. The loss drops the Warriors to fifth this week, as fellow Classic Eight foe Arrowhead moves up to fourth. It will be Mukwonago against Arrowhead this Friday night. Verona and Oak Creek move into the rankings this week after losses by Madison Memorial and Wausau West. Sixth-ranked Franklin faces off with tenth-ranked Oak Creek on Friday night in a big rivalry game.

Division 2

Waunakee remains on top of the Division 2 Coaches Poll, but once again, there are changes immediately behind the Warriors. Sun Prairie East, who Waunakee beat a few weeks ago, moves back up to second even with a 3-2 record (their other loss was to D1 #1 Mukwonago). That's a result of Brookfield Central falling to Sussex Hamilton and dropping to fifth this week. Pulaski lost a second straight game, this one to West De Pere, and the Red Raiders drop out of the rankings completely after sitting fourth last week. West De Pere moves up from sixth to take that fourth spot. New Richmond takes Pulaski's spot in the top ten at number ten this week.

Division 3

Monroe remains number one in the Division 3 rankings, but Rice Lake drops from second to fifth after losing to Baldwin-Woodville. Onalaska moves up to second, as the Hilltoppers have a huge one this week against seventh-ranked Reedsburg. New Berlin West makes a big jump this week, going from a tie for tenth to solo hold of sixth place after beating crosstown rival New Berlin Eisenhower in the Kwik Trip and Wisconsin Dairy Game of the Week. Ike drops from fifth to ninth this week. Plymouth falls out of the rankings after a controversial walk-off loss to Berlin.

Division 4

To no surprise, Catholic Memorial is the top-ranked squad in Division 4. The Crusaders get another tough test this week as they face off with unbeaten and D3 #6 New Berlin West. Edgewood fell to Lodi last week and those Crusaders dip from fourth to ninth, with everyone else moving up one spot. No other ranked Division 4 teams suffered losses, so the same teams make up this week's rankings.

Division 5

No ranked teams lost last week from the Division 5 Coaches Poll, resulting in just a couple minor changes at the bottom. At the top, Aquinas remains number one, followed by Mayville, Brodhead/Juda, Northwestern, and Colby in the top five. University School scored a big win over Lake Country Lutheran, and it allowed the Wildcats to jump up a couple spots to eighth.

Division 6

The top nine spots of the Week 5 Division 6 WisSports.net Coaches Poll remain exactly the same as last week, with Saint Mary's Springs the clear number one team in the vote. At the bottom of the poll, Abbotsford drops out after getting running-clocked by Marathon, with Stratford returning to the rankings.

Division 7

One week after Edgar narrowly slid ahead of Regis for the top spot, there's another change, as Edgar's loss to Colby drops the Wildcats back down to third, with Regis once again ascending to the number one position. Cashton moves up to second this week. Randolph had been fourth, but a loss to Johnson Creek drops the Rockets to eighth this week. Assumption moves into the poll, replacing Hurley.

8-Player

The top five of the 8-player Coaches Poll remains the same, with Newman Catholic leading the way once again. The bottom half of the rankings were a different story, however. Wabeno/Laona, Oakfield, and Clayton all suffered losses and fell out of the poll this week. New entrants are Owen-Withee, who debuts at number six, along with Gibraltar and Shell Lake.
