Sean Ryan of New Berlin West has been selected as the Week 5 Jolly Good Football Player of the Week following a statewide vote on WisSports.net. His big day helped the Vikings score a huge win over crosstown rival New Berlin Eisenhower. He was chosen from a strong group of nominees in Week 5. A total of 8,219 votes were cast, as Ryan's 3,262 were enough to edge out second place Nate Kollath of Sussex Hamilton, who tallied 3,144 votes.

New Berlin West took down crosstown rival New Berlin Eisenhower 28-9 on Friday night in the Kwik Trip and Wisconsin Dairy Game of the Week. West ground out the win with a strong rushing attack and defensive effort, with sophomore Sean Ryan playing a big role in both facets. He carried the ball nine times for 44 yards, but also was an impact player on defense. He returned a fumble 67 yards for a touchdown early in the fourth quarter to help put the game away and also recorded an interception while sharing the team lead with nine tackles.

Remember folks, the only way your favorite player can be named Jolly Good Football Player of the Week is to vote and share the word. Look for the Week 6 nominees to be posted Monday afternoon.
