Hometown Ticketing Athlete of the Week Nominees: October 10-16

Parker Christensen, Elkhorn

Christensen looked to finish off a perfect season this past weekend at the WIAA Individual State Tennis Championships. She did just that. The sensational sophomore took home the Division 1 singles title after defeating Muskego's Emily Pan 6-0, 6-1 in the championship match. Christensen entered the tournament as the top seed and finished the season 34-0. The sophomore finished runner-up last season in her freshman year.

Noah Jahnke, West De Pere

Jahnke won his fourth straight meet this past weekend for the West De Pere boys cross country team. The senior took home a first place finish at the Bay Conference Championship, running the 5,000 meter race in 16:07.0. Jahnke finished 12 seconds ahead of second place finisher and teammate Matthew Schmoll. On the season, he has six first place finishes heading into sectionals this week.

Lily Olson, Edgewood

Olson is one of the top tennis players in the state and entered last weekend looking to defend her state title. The junior did just that, culminating in a 6-2, 6-3 win over top-ranked Angela Wang of University School in the Division 2 State Championship. Olson came into the tournament as the second seed and finished the year 23-1. Olson won the Division 2 title in 2021 and finished runner-up as a freshman in the 2020-21 alternate season.

Tony Schmitz, Sheboygan Christian/Lutheran

It has been extremely difficult to get a soccer ball by Schmitz this year for the Sheboygan Christian/Lutheran boys soccer team. The senior goalkeeper didn't allow a goal last week for the Division 4 top ranked team. In a 4-0 shutout of St. Mary Catholic, he had five saves and then had four more in a 4-0 win over Winnebago Lutheran. Schmitz has allowed just six goals and has 39 saves on the season.

Izzi Stricker, Waunakee

Stricker finished the 2022 season as the top golfer in all of Division 1 girls golf. The junior golfer took home gold in Division at the WIAA Girls Golf State Championship held at University Ridge. Stricker shot a 1-under-par 143 over 36 holes. She won by two strokes over Westosha Central's Kylie Walker. Last season Stricker finished tied for fourteenth as a sophomore at the state championship.
