Hometown Ticketing Athlete of the Week Nominees: October 17-23

Jack Bretzmann, New Berlin Eisenhower

New Berlin Eisenhower came into the WIAA Boys Soccer Playoffs ranked second in all of Division 3. Bretzmann was all over the pitch ensuring the Lions a regional title this past week. The sophomore forward netted a hat trick in the 7-2 regional semifinal win over Martin Luther. Bretzmann then accounted for all three goals in the 3-0 win over Kettle Moraine Lutheran. He scored two goals himself and assisted on another as New Berlin Eisenhower captured a regional title.

Hailee Halverson, Barron

Halverson was incredible as Barron won three games and regional title this past week. She began with 21 kills, 19 digs and two aces in a 3-0 sweep of Hayward and followed that up with 24 kills, 13 digs and three aces in a 3-1 win over St. Croix Central in the regional semis. Barron, the sixth seed, then squared off with top seed Baldwin-Woodville in the regional finals. Halverson recorded 22 kills, 11 digs, two aces and two blocks as the Bears swept Baldwin-Woodville, cashing a ticket to the sectionals.

Jaden Hammes, West Salem

West Salem didn't drop a single set this past week as the Panthers girls volleyball team captured a regional crown. Hammes was efficient from her outside hitter position. The senior started the week with 14 kills, eight digs and two aces in the 3-0 sweep of Black River Falls. She then had 15 kills, 14 digs and an ace in a 3-0 sweep of Richland Center. Hammes finished the weekend off with 10 kills and two aces as West Salem knocked off top-seeded Dodgeville 3-0 to advance to the sectionals.

Yair Perez Ruiz, Wisconsin Dells

Perez Ruiz was all over the pitch, accounting for half of Wisconsin Dells' goals in its two regional matches last week. In a 10-0 shutout of Prairie du Chien co-op, the senior forward had two goals and two assists. Perez Ruiz then netted a hat trick and added an assist in the 6-1 win over Mount Horeb in the regional finals.

Jackson Wilhelmson, Kenosha Indian Trail

The Kenosha Indian Trail boys volleyball team only had one match this past week, but Wilhelmson was dominant in the playoff matchup with Westosha Central. The senior outside hitter recorded 23 kills, seven digs, seven blocks and three aces. Every one of those kills, digs, blocks and aces was needed as the Hawks eked out a 3-2 thriller of a win over the Falcons.
