Hometown Ticketing Athlete of the Week Nominees: October 24-30

Addy Duellman & Wesley Pronschinske, Cochrane-Fountain City

It was impossible to choose between Duellman and Pronschinske as the duo captured gold this past weekend at the WIAA State Cross Country Meet. Duellman, just a freshman, was competing in her first state meet, held at the Ridges Golf Course. She came away with a first place finishing time of 18:58.1, which is the fourth fastest in division 3 state meet history. Pronschinske finished fifth last year at the state meet, taking home gold this year in his senior season. He won with a time of 16.08.9, which was nine seconds better than the second place finisher. It is the first time in history, that a pair of runners from the same school won state championships in the same season.

Sylvia Marlock, Kettle Moraine

Marlock has the Kettle Moraine girls volleyball team heading back to the WIAA State Tournament for the second consecutive season and third time in four years. The sophomore setter set her teammates up for success in both sectional matches this past week. First in a 3-1 win over Fort Atkinson, Marlock had 32 assists, five digs, two blocks and one ace. The Lasers then squared off with Mukwonago in the sectional finals. Marlock had 30 assists, five digs and two blocks in the 3-1 win.

Sara Mlodik, D.C. Everest

Mlodik finished twelfth at the WIAA State Cross Country Meet last year as a sophomore. This year, as a junior, she improved upon that standing by eleven spots. Mlodik was the fastest in the five kilometer race, winning the Division 1 individual title with a time of 18:06.6. She finished three seconds ahead of the second place finisher.

Michael Poquette, Waukesha West

Poquette played a key role in getting the Waukesha West boys soccer team back to the WIAA State Tournament for the first time since 2017. In a 2-1 sectional semi-final win over Brookfield Central, the senior forward netted a lone goal. Poquette followed that up by accounting for both goals in the 2-1 win over Wauwatosa East in the sectional finals. He scored one goal and assists on the other. The Wolverines will be participating in their fifth WIAA State Tournament, looking for their first win.

Faith Wehrman, New Berlin Eisenhower

Wehrman finished runner-up last year at the WIAA Cross Country meet, and took home gold this year. Just a sophomore, Wehrman finished the five kilometer race with the fifth best time at the state meet in division 2. Wehrman finished the race in 18:14.8, finishing six seconds ahead of the second place finisher.
