Jolly Good Level 3 Player of the Week Nominees

Colton Brunell, Columbus

Columbus junior Colton Brunell ran for two touchdowns in the first quarter to help the Cardinals jump out early and cruise home for a 35-6 win over Ellsworth in a Level 3 playoff game. Brunell finished with 270 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 31 carries, averaging 8.7 yards per attempt. Brunell also led the team with eight tackles defensively.

Noah Hofmann, Kaukauna

Kaukauna went on the road for a third straight week of the playoffs, and came away with a victory for a third straight week. Once again, senior running back Noah Hofmann was huge, going for big play after big play. He finished a 41-13 win over Homestead with 18 carries for 388 yards and three touchdowns, averaging an impressive 21.6 yards per carry. In three playoff games he has 56 attempts for 867 yards and 12 total touchdowns.

Kaden Kuester, Monroe

The duo of Alex Hernandez and Keatin Sweeney gets must of the attention for Monroe, and deservedly so after both are over 1200 rushing yards for a second straight season. However, junior Kaden Kuester put together a breakout performance in the team's 35-0 shutout of West Bend East last week. With Sweeney and Hernandez bottled up (90 combined yards on 22 carries), Kuester came up big to the tune of 158 yards and three touchdowns on just eight carries. He opened the scoring with a 49-yard run in the first quarter and added two more touchdowns in the first half.

Clayton Lyga, Bangor

Clayton Lyga ran for two touchdowns in the first quarter and Bangor led 33-0 before Pepin/Alma got on the board, with the Cardinals cruising home for a 40-21 victory. Lyga added a receiving score later in the first half plus another rushing score in the third quarter, finishing with 23 carries for 146 yards and three touchdowns to go with the eight-yard touchdown reception. Lyga also had 16 tackles on defense.

Nolan Schopp, Kettle Moraine

Kettle Moraine was the more physical team on Friday as the Lasers defeated visiting Sun Prairie East 27-6 to advance to the state semi-finals. Nolan Schopp was a workhorse in the backfield, carrying the ball 20 times for 201 yards and three touchdowns. He finished with five tackles and was a key part of an impressive defensive effort that limited Sun Prairie East to just 203 yards and six points, well below their season averages.
