Hometown Ticketing Athlete of the Week Nominees: November 14-20

Blake Barry, Kimberly

Kimberly is back on top in Division 1, having knocked off Mukwonago 34-30 in the WIAA Division 1 State Championship this past Friday at Camp Randall. Barry served as the workhorse back all game for the Papermakers. The senior running back rushed for 33 of the 38 attempts for Kimberly and finished with 184 yards and four touchdowns. His fourth touchdown was the game-clincher, coming from six yards out with just 26 seconds left in the game, sealing the win. Barry added two catches for 15 yards.

Calvin Hargrove, Aquinas

Aquinas repeated as Division 5 state champs and Hargrove was probably the biggest reason why. The 5'8" senior tailback/linebacker spearheaded the Blugolds rushing attack and was a menace defensively. Hargrove rushed for 97 yards off 20 carries and added a rushing score and two point conversion in the 22-14 win over Mayville. Defensively Hargrove was all over the field, recording 20 total tackles while trying to keep Mayville's All-State running back Blake Schraufnagel in check. It was the second consecutive season Aquinas has held off Mayville in the Division 5 state title game.

Corbin Hynes, Columbus

Columbus won its first state championship since 1996, which also happened to be the last time the Cardinals participated in a state championship game. Columbus squared off with undefeated juggernaut and three-time defending champion Catholic Memorial in the Division 4 State Championship. While all-world junior running back Colton Brunell will get most of the headlines, Hynes kicked one of the biggest field goals in state football history. With just under five minutes remaining in the Thursday night game, Columbus' offense stalled at Catholic Memorial's 14 yard line. Hynes trotted out to attempt a 31-yard field goal with the snow swirling around Camp Randall and the turf field littered with snow. The senior kicker had just enough on the kick to clear the uprights and give Columbus the decisive 23-21 game-winning score.

Tucker Markham, Monroe

Monroe hadn't been to a WIAA State Championship in football since 1996 and hadn't won since '94. Markham made sure that the long absence between appearances ended with a gold ball. Markham came into the state game as the fourth top runner with regards to yards for the Cheesemakers on the season. He proved to be the most explosive in the 35-14 victory over West Salem. Markham finished with 20 carries for 170 yards and four touchdowns. The senior added eight tackles on defense.

Zander Rockow, Regis

Rockow capped off his prep football career in style, with a WIAA State Championship. The future Minnesota preferred walk-on set a Division 7 state championship record as Regis defeated Shiocton 41-7. Rockow finished the game with a state record 251 rushing yards off of 16 carries and added three touchdowns. He added one catch for ten yards and three tackles and a sack defensively. Rockow helped the Ramblers to their first gold ball since 2016.
