The Tom Kislow Memorial Tournament held at Wausau East High School over the Thanksgiving weekend featured six teams from six different conferences throughout the state.

After taking in three games on Saturday, here are profiles on my unofficial all-tournament team.

Will Fortier

Will Fortier, 6-4, Sr., G/F, Lakeland
Fortier was money from three-point range for Lakeland in a 46-45 loss to New London. The three-year varsity performer and son of Lakeland coach Rich Fortier finished with 21 points and made four three-point baskets. Moreover, he played with poise, very good basketball instincts and evident unselfishness. A good example of Fortier's willingness to involve his teammates came in the closing seconds of the game against New London. Trailing by one and facing a double team in the post, Fortier kicked the ball out to Carter Quade, who was open on the left baseline. Quade's shot bounced off the rim, but it was the correct play with the game on the line. Fortier, one of the better college prospects in the Great Northern Conference, averaged 17.5 points and 6.7 rebounds as a junior for the Thunderbirds.

Canan Huss

Canan Huss, 6-3, Sr., F, McDonell Catholic
An extremely active player on both ends of the court, Huss competes with energy and determination each time he steps onto the floor. His constant attacking of the basket paid dividends for another very good McDonell Catholic team in its victory over Laona/Wabeno as he finished with 21 points and was able to score through contact. Huss also boasts shooting range and does and excellent job of getting to the foul line for coach Adam Schilling's squad. Huss is a physical 6-foot-3 wing with a good future ahead of him and averaged 16.0 points and 7.0 rebounds as a junior for the Macks.

Carter Janesch

Carter Janesch, 6-1,Sr., G, Laona/Wabeno
A key returning starter from Laona/Wabeno's Northern Lakes Conference championship squad of a year ago, Janesch was the only consistent scoring option for the Rebels in their loss to McDonell Catholic. Even with the Macks' zone defense paying close attention to Janesch's whereabouts, he still managed to score a team-high 19 points for first-year coach Kendric Allen. Janesch made some perimeter shots, but he also spent a lot of time driving to the basket and earning trips to the foul line. One of the better players in the Northern Lakes, Janesch hopes to lead the Rebels to a fourth straight league title this winter.

Keagan Jirschele

Keagan Jirschele, 5-8, Jr., PG, Mosinee
Jirschele would get my vote for Most Valuable Player of the event as he was exceptionally impressive in Mosinee's victory over Wausau East. His flat-out speed with the basketball in his hands was worth the price of admission as he constantly put extreme pressure on the Lumberjacks' defense with his ability to push the ball in transition. Jirschele scored a career-best 34 points against Wausau East, but he also handed out 10 assists, snared five rebounds and finished with three steals. He also drew plenty of fouls as he made 11-of-15 free throw attempts. Also an outstanding football and baseball player, Jirschele must be contained in order to have a shot at beating Mosinee this winter.

Cole Kowalski

Cole Kowalski, 6-1, Jr., G, Mosinee
When you think you have Jirschele or senior forward Davin Stoffel contained, junior Cole Kowalski steps to the front and puts up points for coach Matt Lindsey's Mosinee squad. Kowalski drove the lane successfully after some excellent passes from his teammates and scored 13 points in the triumph over Wausau East. A varsity performer as a sophomore, Kowalski appears to have taken on a bigger role for the Indians' in 2022-23 and his ability to drive and shoot from the perimeter will be big assets in his team's quest to win the Great Northern Conference title.

Eddie Mittermeyer

Eddie Mittermeyer, 6-0, Sr., G, McDonell Catholic
While Jirschele got things done from his point-guard position with his speed, strength and athleticism, Mittermeyer was able to accomplish much as the Macks' lead guard with his skill, precision and basketball IQ. His stat line from the Macks' win over Laona/Wabeno was impressive: 21 points on eight-of-12 shooting, including four-of-seven from three-point range. He also had six assists, four steals and two rebounds. Mittermeyer, who contributed 22 points, three assists and three steals in the Macks' win over Wausau East on Friday, is a four-year varsity player and potential all-league player in the highly competitive Western Cloverbelt Conference.

Jesse Napgezek, 6-1, Soph., G, Wausau East
The Lumberjacks of Wausau East have a balanced team with several players capable of scoring in double figures on any given night. It was Napgezek's turn in the loss to Mosinee as the talented sophomore backcourt performer finished with a team-high 18 points, drilling a pair of three-point baskets and making all four of his foul attempts for coach Dan Garrett's squad. The future looks bright for the Lumberjacks as four underclassmen started against Mosinee -- Napgezek, junior lead guard Isaac Rozwadowski, junior wing Brady Prihoda and sophomore guard Jaydan Garrett.

Jonah Schlueter, 5-11, Jr., G, New London
Schlueter played on the JV squad for New London last season, but he made his varsity presence felt in a big-time way against Lakeland. The rangy lead guard scored 14 points and drilled four three-point shots, including the go ahead basket, to lift the Bulldogs to their victory. Teaming with senior Kyle Wisniewski in New London's backcourt, Schlueter appears primed to make some positive noise for the Bulldogs this winter as they compete in the Bay Conference.

Davin Stoffel

Davin Stoffel, 6-6, Sr., F, Mosinee
A rugged, physical and skilled forward who defends, rebounds and scores, Stoffel is a tough match-up for opponents. He can handle the ball away from the basket, score off the bounce and dominate at times on the glass. He overcame foul trouble to finish with 13 points, eight rebounds and six assists against Wausau East. The four-year varsity performer and South Dakota State football recruit earned unanimous all-league honors in the Great Northern Conference as a junior when he averaged 17.7 points and 10.0 rebounds per contest.

Kyle Wisniewski, 6-0, Sr., G, New London
Part of an outstanding backcourt at New London, Wisniewski was stellar in the Bulldogs' thrilling one-point victory over Lakeland. He consistently drove to the basket and then swished pull-up jump shots on the way to scoring a team-best 15 points in the defensive struggle that included plenty of physical play and contested shots. A three-year starter for New London, Wisniewski averaged 10.7 points and 3.9 rebounds as a junior for the Bulldogs.
