Hometown Ticketing Athlete of the Week Nominees: December 26 - January 1

Isaac Bunker, Monroe

Bunker competed over the holiday break weekend at the Bi-State Classic, held at the La Crosse Center in La Crosse. The senior, 285 pound weight class wrestler was dominant to say the least. Before squaring off with Stoughton's Griffin Empey in the the title match, Bunker went 5-0 with five pins to earn his way into the championship. Bunker then pinned Empey 56 seconds to claim the title and improve his record to 19-0 on the season.

Eddie Mittermeyer, McDonell Central Catholic

Mittermeyer put together one of the best scoring outputs of the season this past week at McDonell Central Catholic's home tournament. The 5'11" senior scored a career high 52 points in a 93-51 win over Chequamegon in the semi-finals. He was 16 of 27 from the field and made 13 of 21 shots from beyond the ark. Mittermeyer's 52 points is the fourth highest scoring output of the boys basketball season thus far. He followed it up with 17 points and four steals in a 78-28 blowout win over Bayfield.

Violet Morren, Hillsboro

Morren and the Hillsboro girls basketball team is off to a 9-1 start to the season, including a pair of wins last week at the McDonell Central Catholic Tournament, resulting in a tournament championship. The 6'4" senior began by scoring 11 points and adding 10 rebounds in a 54-50 win over McDonell in the semi-finals. Morren then poured in 35 points while adding seven rebounds and six blocks in a 64-31 win over G-E-T in the championship game. Morren's 35 points set a school record for points in a game.

Lucas Sullivan, Mineral Point

Sullivan concluded the 2022 calendar year with a bang, winning the 138 pound title at the Bi-State Classic in La Crosse. Before his title match, Sullivan won five matches including one pin. He then squared off with three-time state champion and top-seeded Rhett Koenig of Prairie du Chien. Late in the third round, Sullivan roused some excitement in the arena as he pinned Koenig to capture the individual title in his weight class.

Lily Truchon, South Shore

Truchon was all over the court and filled the stat sheet this past week as South Shore won a trio of games to improve to 9-0 on the season. Competing at the Clayton Tournament, the 5'11" senior started her week off with 14 points, 12 rebounds, eight assists and six steals in a 62-29 win over Turtle Lake. She followed that up with 22 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and four steals in a 66-45 win over Unity. Truchon saved her best for last, recording a triple-double with 15 points, 17 rebounds and 10 assists, along with six steals, in a 60-29 win over Frederic. She added seven blocks through the three games and have averages of 17 points, 13 rebounds, eight assists, 5.3 steals and 2.3 blocks over the three games.
