Hometown Ticketing Athlete of the Week Nominees: January 2-8

Drew Daoust, Southern Door

Daoust is one of the top scorers in the state and is just a sophomore on the Southern Door boys basketball team. Last week, he put up big numbers once again in a pair of victories. First in a 66-49 win over Sheboygan Falls, the sensational sophomore scored 36 points. He followed that up with 35 points in a 59-54 win over Algoma. For the season, Daoust is averaging 31.1 points per game while shooting 57% from the field and 45% from three.

Allison Hampel, Greenfield

Hampel passed a career milestone this past week that not many achieve in prep basketball. Hampel, a senior post player for the Hustlin' Hawks surpassed 1,000 career rebounds as she led her squad to a pair of wins. First in a 57-52 win over Whitnall, the 5'10" forward had 17 points, 16 rebounds, four steals and two blocks. Hampel followed that up with 20 points, 17 rebounds, seven assists, three steals and two blocks in an 84-58 win over Brown Deer. Along with her 1,00 career rebounds, Hampel has scored over 1,400 points over the last four years.

Milan Momcilovic, Pewaukee

Momcilovic is the top ranked player in the Class of 2023 in the state and showed why this past week in a pair of hard fought victories. To begin, Pewaukee, ranked second in Division 2 in the WSN Coaches Poll squared off Woodland Conference rival and the top ranked Division 2 Wisconsin Lutheran squad. Coming away with a 75-67 victory over Vikings, Momcilovic scored a game high 37 points while adding eight rebounds, four assists and three blocks. The Iowa State commit then went for 20 points, five rebounds and two blocks in a 73-60 win over Milwaukee Lutheran.

Julianna Ouimette, Lakeland

Ouimette is one of the top scorers in the state, averaging over 22 points per game during her this, her senior season. Last week Lakeland took Rhinelander 77-48 in its only game of the week and Ouimette came two steals shy of a triple-double. The Lehigh commit scored 21 points, dished out eight assists and added eight steals. She also had five rebounds. Two weeks ago in the last week of 2022, Ouimette surpassed 2,000 points in her prep career.

Tyler Steuck, Janseville Bluebirds

The Janesville Bluebirds boys hockey team is 8-4 on the year and Steuck has been one of the top scorers in the state. Last week he continued that torrid scoring pace, starting with three goals and one assist in an 8-7 overtime win over Madison West. The senior forward then netted five goals in an 8-3 win over Verona. According to Wisconsin Prep Hockey, Steuck is second in the state with 43 points.
