Hometown Ticketing Athlete of the Week Nominees: January 23-29

Melissa DiGiorgio, Hurley

The Hurley girls basketball team is 10-3 and tied atop the Indianhead Conference standings with South Shore. DiGiorgio has been a big reason for the Northstar's success. Last week the 5'7" senior guard put up a pair of double-doubles, first in a 57-49 win over Drummond. DiGiorgio had 28 points and 10 rebounds in the victory. She followed that up with 21 points, 13 rebounds, four assists and four steals in a 47-42 win over Mellen.

Alana Durtschi, Albany

Durtschi came extremely close to a triple and quadruple-double in a pair of games last week for the undefeated Albany Comets. First in an 86-20 win over Argyle, the junior tallied 21 points, 13 rebounds, nine assists, two steals and a block. Durtschi followed that up with 15 points, 10 steals, eight assists and seven rebounds in an 84-7 win over Juda. Durtschi has played phenomenally while leading Albany to a 19-0 record and being ranked fourth in the Division 5 WSN Coaches Poll.

Gavyn Hurley, Middleton

Hurley had himself an impressive week while leading Middleton to a pair of wins to improve the Cardinal's record to 16-0. On the court, he began the week with 16 points, 13 rebounds and nine assists in a 73-48 win over Sun Prairie East. The Winona State commit then recorded 19 points, seven rebounds and three assists in a 67-45 win over Madison East. He added five steals in the two contests. Hurley was also named as a potential contender for the Mr. Basketball award by WSN Boys basketball writer Mark Miller this past week in an article posted to WisSports.net.

Sekou Konneh, Saint Thomas More

Konneh is one of the top players in the state and is ranked sixth in the entire Class of 2024 by WSN. He's an incredible rebounder and showed out this past week. In a 67-49 win over Martin Luther, the 6'8" junior had 21 points and 22 rebounds, while adding two blocks. Konneh then added 16 points, 22 rebounds and a block in a 56-45 win over The Prairie School. For the season, the Division 1 recruit is averaging 15.6 rebounds per game, good enough for fifth in the state.

Makaela Reinke, Superior

The Superior girls hockey team skated to a pair of wins this past week and Reinke was a big reason why. Just a sophomore, Reinke sits towards the top of leaderboard in points scored this season on the Wisconsin Prep Hockey stats pages. Last week, she began the week with four goals and an assist in a 7-2 win over Duluth. Reinke then had two goals in a 7-1 win over the Western Wisconsin Stars. On the season, Reinke has 28 goals and 11 assists.
