In December, the WIAA Board of Control gave final approval to the adoption of lacrosse as an officially sanctioned sport for boys and girls, beginning in the spring 2024 season.

Now, the Association has released the lacrosse season and tournament regulations that will govern competition. Of note, the first date for practice for 2024 will be March 11th, with March 19th the earliest date for games. Each team will be announced to compete in 18 regular season contests. The site for the state tournament is still to be determined, but will be held Saturday, June 8th.

Lacrosse is the first new sport offering for the WIAA since soccer was added in 1982, though several sports have added genders to existing sports since that time.
