Laconia defeats Aquinas in the Division 4 title game to capture the program's first state championship

The Laconia Spartans are WIAA state champions for the first time in team history. 

The Spartans had a 13-0 run early in the game that set the tone. They led Aquinas 33-23 at the break en route to a 64-51 victory in the Division 4 state championship game. 

Laconia, last year's state runner-up, led by as many as 20 points in the second half before earning the 13-point victory in the program's third state tournament appearance. 

Senior Reece Keel, a 5-8 guard, scored a team-high 16 points (all in the first half), connecting on four of six from 3-point land. 

Sophomores Aubrey Leonard, a 5-8 guard, and Payton Morgan, a 5-10 guard, tallied 14 and 12 points, respectively,

Leonard shot 8-for-10 from the free throw line and tallied seven rebounds, five assists, and two steals while Morgan added eight rebounds and two assists. 

Coach Chris Morgan and the Spartans got production from several others including sophomore Tierney Madigan, a 5-10 guard, who contributed five points, 11 rebounds, four assists, and three steals. 

Laconia finishes the season with a 27-3 record. 

Aquinas (28-2) was led by 5-8 senior point guard Macy Donarski, a University of Montana recruit, who netted a game-high 18 points and added 11 assists, five rebounds, and four steals for coach and father Dave Donarski and the Blugolds.
