The Kettle Moraine Lasers are back-to-back Division 1 state champions.

The Lasers defeated Brookfield East, 47-40, in the state title game, becoming the first D1 team to repeat as state champions since Appleton North (2017, 2018) achieved the feat.

Kettle Moraine did not trail in the hard-fought victory. The Lasers led 25-17 at halftime and by as many as 10 points in the second half.

Senior Grace Grocholski, 5-10 wing/forward, scored game-high 24 points and added five rebounds and two steals for the Lasers. The West Virginia signee shot 9-for-17 from the floor, 3-for-6 from behind the arc, and made three of four from the charity stripe.

Fellow senior Braelyn Torres, a 5-8 guard, posted a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. The NCAA Division II Northern Michigan University recruit added six assists, two steals, and two blocks for the Lasers.

Another key contributor for coach Todd Hansen (357-103) and the Lasers was junior Briana Binagi, a 5-11 forward, who tallied seven points, nine rebounds, and two assists.

Kettle Moraine shot 14-for-34 from the floor, 6-for-18 from three, and 13-for-24 from the free throw line.

The Lasers finish the year with a 28-1 record, winning the program's third state title.

Brookfield East was led by junior Shae Kelley, a 5-10 point guard, who finished with 18 points, five rebounds, five steals, and two assists for coach Tyler Saxton and the 27-3 Spartans.

The Spartans shot 13-for-46 from the floor, 2-for-14 from 3-point land, and 12-for-20 from the charity stripe.

Brookfield East outscored Kettle Moraine 17-2 in points off turnovers, 20-8 in points in the paint, and had five fewer turnovers (14-9) in the seven-point loss.
