Wisconsin Sports Network is proud to showcase the WSN Senior Basketball Awards. The finalists for the top senior point guard players have been selected. The winner will be announced the week after the state tournament.

Seth Bunders, 6-0, G, Wauzeka-Steuben
Simply put, Bunders did it all for the Wauzeka-Steuben basketball team this winter. The shifty, aggressive lead guard was nothing short of outstanding for much of the campaign, averaging 25.3 points, 7.1 rebounds, 6.6 assists and 4.9 steals for the Hornets, who finished 21-7 after falling to Royall in a WIAA Division 5 sectional final. Bunders, a NCAA Division III recruit for Platteville, ranked among state leaders in assists and steals.

Gavyn Hurley, 6-6, G, Middleton
The two-time Player of the Year in the Big Eight Conference did a big of everything for a very good Middleton squad, leading the Cardinals to the league title and a 25-2 record. Hurley's versatility shines through in his final statistics for 2022-23 -- a team-best 19.6 ppg and a team-high 7.9 rpg. He also contributed 2.9 apg and 2.2 spg. Hurley shot 51 percent from the floor and 74 percent from the free-throw line. The NCAA Division II recruit for Winona State recruit finished his three-year varsity career at Middleton with just over 1,000 career points.

John Kinziger, 6-0, G, De Pere
Playing the point-guard position for the top-ranked WIAA Division 1 team in Wisconsin, Kinziger is enjoying a banner senior season, leading De Pere to a 28-0 record heading into the state-tournament semifinals. The multi-skilled recruit for NCAA Division I Illinois State is averaging 18.8 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 5.6 apg and 2.1 spg. He has scored more than 2,000 career points and is a four-time first-team all-league selection.

Mason Prey, 6-4, G, Newman Catholic
Like all of the others on the point guard finalists list, Prey is a four-year varsity performer. He is a three-time first-team all-Marawood South Conference performer who has helped Newman Catholic to a 25-4 record and a spot in the WIAA Division 5 State Tournament. The uncommitted lead guard is averaging 23.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.9 steals for the Cardinals, and has scored 1,846 career points.

Luther Smith Jr., 6-2, G, Sussex Hamilton
Smith can play either guard position and did alternate between wing guard and point guard at different times for coach Andy Cerroni at Sussex Hamilton this season. He is the best scoring guard among the five finalists, averaging a robust 27.8 ppg for the Chargers. He also contributed 4.4 rpg and 2.1 apg while helping Sussex Hamilton to a 20-6 record and a share of the Greater Metro Conference championship along with Marquette and Wauwatosa West.
