WBCA announces 2023 Division 3 Boys Basketball All-State Team

Riley Brooks of Ripon, Carson Koepnick of West Salem, Jeremy Lorenz of Brillion and Amari McCottry of Saint Thomas More are repeat selections on the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association first-team all-state squad among players who compete at the WIAA Division 3 level. 

Brooks, a skilled 6-foot-6 wing with athleticism and a penchant for finding the basket, scored more than 2,000 career points at Ripon and was picked as the Player of the Year in the East Central Conference as a senior. He averaged 31.0 points, 9.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists for the Tigers. Brooks will play college basketball at NCAA Division II Northern Michigan. 

Koepnick. a 6-1 combination guard headed to Viterbo University, helped West Salem to second-place finishes in the WIAA Division 3 State Tournament in each of the past two seasons. He led a balanced West Salem squad to a 28-2 record by averaging a team-high 15.1 ppg to go along with 4.6 rpg and 2.1 apg.

Lorenz (6-8) was outstanding all season while helping Brillion to a 29-1 record and the Division 3 state title. The Wofford recruit had 26 points, 11 rebounds, three steals and four blocked shots in Brillion's 61-55 victory over West Salem in the D3 title game. On the season, Lorenz averaged 21.4 points, 11.6 rebounds and 3.9 assists. He finished his high school career with 1,992 points.

McCottry (6-6) is a very talented player with the ball in his hands. He helped Saint Thomas More to a 23-5 record and a sectional-final appearance by averaging 23.4 points, 6.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists. The three-year varsity performer begins his senior season with 1,643 points.

Senior Levi Birkholz (6-4), named Player of the Year in the Capitol North Conference, lifted Lakeside Lutheran to the WIAA State Tournament with a 41-point effort in a sectional-final win over Edgewood. He averaged 21.8 points, 7.1 rebounds and 3.2 assists while leading Lakeside Lutheran to a 25-4 record. The NCAA Division I recruit for The Citadel completed his high school career with 1,832 points.

Senior Brayden Bradway (6-4) led Osceola to a 25-2 record and the championship in the Middle Border Conference. He averaged 21.8 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.4 steals while sharing Player of the Year honors in the league with Jordan Malmlov of Prescott. 

Forward Devin Brown (6-7) had a breakout year during his sophomore season at Milwaukee Academy of Science. He helped MAS qualify for the Division 3 State Tournament by averaging 21.6 points, 9.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists. Brown scored a career-best 40 points in a playoff victory over University School. 

Sophomore Drew Daoust (6-1) of Southern Door finished third in the state in scoring at 32.1 points per game. The Player of the Year in the Packerland Conference also averaged 4.2 rpg and shot 53 percent from the floor, 82 percent from the free-throw line and 39 percent (81 of 209) from three-point range. Daoust begins his junior campaign next year with 1,340 career points.

Junior Dupree Fletcher Jr. (6-0) was selected as the Player of the Year in the Gold Division of the Milwaukee City Conference after leading Carmen Northwest to the league title and a 20-4 record. Fletcher averaged 22.7 points and 6.3 assists for Carmen Northwest.

Senior Peter Lattos (6-8) teamed with Koepnick at West Salem to form a dynamic duo for one of the state's elite teams. Lattos used his versatility to score inside and outside while averaging 14.7 points, 8.6 rebounds and 3.1 assists. He scored 965 career points at West Salem.  

Senior Alex Sherwood (6-7) of Xavier helped the Hawks to a 25-3 record and the Bay Conference title. Despite missing some games with an injury, Sherwood shared Player of the Year honors in the Bay with Michael Metcalf-Grassman of Shawano. The NCAA Division II recruit for St. Leo averaged 20.8 points, 10.8 rebounds and 2.5 blocked shots. Sherwood completed his four-year high school career with 1,424 points to rank third on Xavier's all-time scoring list. 

Senior Aaron Uttech (6-1) helped Columbus to a share of the Capitol North Conference championship along with Lake Mills and Lakeside Lutheran. The UW-Stevens Point recruit averaged 21.4 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.6 assists. Uttech completed his prep career with 1,165 points.
