Kettle Moraine's Braelyn Torres has been selected as the top senior defender as part of the WSN Basketball Awards

Torres is a long and quick lockdown defender who gets steals and deflections while also blocking and altering shots. She's also a talented offensive player with her ability to shoot the three, score off the dribble, and find the open player.

She was selected as a first-team WBCA All-State performer as a junior and senior, helping lead Kettle Moraine to back-to-back Division 1 state titles. She also earned honorable mention recognition as a sophomore.

The 5-8 guard averaged 15.9 points, 3.6 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 4.5 steals, and 1.1 blocks per game as a senior for coach Todd Hansen and the 28-1 Lasers, the D1 state champions.

Braelyn knocked down 76 three-pointers (36%) and made 81 of 99 (81.8%) from the charity stripe.

Torres finished her high school career with 1,432 points, 453 rebounds, 420 assists, 370 steals, and 219 three-pointers made while helping Kettle Moraine to a 91-18 record.

In the 2023 Division 1 state championship game, Torres recorded her second double-double of the season. She tallied 11 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, two steals, and two blocks.

Torres was named first-team All-Classic Eight in her final three seasons. She earned second-team all-league as a freshman.

Braelyn is signed with NCAA Division II Northern Michigan University, whose head coach is Barneveld native Casey Thousand.

The finalists for the award were Torres, Lexi Bugajski of New Berlin Eisenhower, Reagan Pahl of Cedarburg, Trinity Mocadlo of Hortonville, Marie Outlay of Sun Prairie West, and Beautiful Waheed of Milwaukee Academy of Science.
